Oscar Reactions Ping In

We Endorse Spying (on Our IMs Only): Sneak a peek at our watercooler conversation, cut and pasted straight from our IMs, then join in below.

BlogRockinBeats:
Terrence Howard is nominated...there is a GOD
DishUpontheStars: George Clooney is a BEST DIRECTOR nominee...now he will be taken seriously
TheCoolerBlog: I was terrified they'd overlook Paul Giamatti again, since they SCREWED him last year for Sideways
IPingThere4IAM: Capote started to close out of some theaters...do you think they'll bring it back now that it got so much Oscar love?
LouderthanaBlog: Man, I hope so. I want to live in the kind of world where Philip Seymour Hoffman is an Oscar winner...gives me faith in humanity
CinemaniacGal: Spielberg's a master...he's the only guy who can talk to nobody about his movie, yet it still scores major nominations...okay, maybe on Terrence Malick can do that.
TheCoolerBlog: Not this year...Malick's Lost World shut out
DishUpontheStars: They screwed Russell Crowe because of his phone throwing!
LouderthanaBlog: no, they screwed Russell Crowe because Cinderella Man just wasn't that good
TripToFAME: Star Wars got shut out of special effects! a slap in the face to George Lucas.

Time to Come Clean: What's your first reaction to this year's Oscar race?

Giamatti deserved the SAG Award.  But his ungracious acceptance speech that ignored Russell Crowe's contribution to the film, makes me root against him for the Oscar.

Both Russell Crowe AND "Cinderella Man", the film, were overlooked.  Would liked to have seen "Walk the Line" get a Best Picture nod too...maybe replacing "Capote" and "Munich" in that category.  Good for Phillip Seymour Hoffman, though.
Reese Witherspoon is a good actress but so ditzy when she accepts the awards she's already won.  For that reason alone I almost want Felicity Huffman to win Best Actress. Paul Giamatti should have won last year...they'll probably make it up this time.  And, don't you think the Academy takes themselves just a little too seriously??

I FEEL THAT TERENCE HOWARD SHOULD WIN AN OSCAR BECAUSE HE IS A VERY TALENTED ACTOR AND THERE IS MMORE TO HIM THAN HIS LOOKS.

ALL IS GOOD!!!!! Brokeback Mountain leads the race, I'm lovin' it!! So....in your face to all you narrow minded homophoebes who said only a few gay people in L.A. and N.Y. would go and see it. Bravo Ang Lee, thanks for being brave enough to make this movie, you WILL be rewarded and Brokeback WILL be named Best Picture!!
