LouderThanaBlog: It's not just gwyneth...more stars painted their faces
DishUpontheStars: What is this even for again? what's the point of the campaign?
LouderThanaBlog: It's part of an AIDS in Africa awareness campaign..great message
TheCoolerBlog: but Sarah Jessica and Gwyneth? they look like they are posing for a clothing ad
TheCoolerBlog: I just worry that the message is confusing and being lost on the youth of America
TheCoolerBlog: See what my nephew sent me:

the real shame is, no matter how many faces are painted, money raised, time donated a cure will never be found. there are too many companies making too much money on other peoples tragities

the comment said nothing about slavery PEOPLE so the ones who said that should push aside the voices in their own heads and read. I'm sure many of you guys who said this are at least highschool graduates right. So grow up and read, That why the rest of the world is laughing at us we cant transfer the words on the page into our minds correctly. so Grow up. They can do what ever they want, but maybe I have a great idea show some of the most beautiful people in the world and get their pictures changed to how they would look in the last stage of aids I think the shock would make many young and old think about how they might look. Now don't hate that is a great idea huh.
Finally checked out your comment that you wanted me to checkout... I was writing in response to the person that DID say something about Slavery. I know nothing about Slavery was mentioned, and I think that what they are doing was great. Now... why did you email me to tell me to check out your comment? Was it meant as a bash to me, or were you taking sides... WHAT?? -
instead of paying photographers, make-up artists, and stylists, it would have been a lot more productive and effective had they just given all the money it cost for this "campaign" to researchers and hospitals and clinics in africa to actually help those who are suffering. while they may be well intentioned, i haven't really seen sarah jessica parker nor gweneth paltrow donate or aid these organizations in any way other than attending glitzy events which i really don't see how those would help. angelina jolie and bill gates donate money and time to the source, and while the publicity and glamour may be less, they are much more helpful. we are all aware of aids, now it's time for a cure.

The trend is the opposite. When it comes to AIDS, it seems politicians and public figures cannot do enough. They demand that we pump billions of dollars into their cause. The irony is that AIDS is one of the few diseases where personal behavior rather than medical research could save millions of lives.
AIDS in the West is still overwhelmingly a threat to male homosexuals and intravenous drug users.
It's now found in other groups, but it has taken years for that to happen and they still represent the minority of sufferers. The bulk of the newly infected tend to be people who have contracted the virus through permissive sexual practices.
While sexual and chemical addiction are powerful habits, both place cause and effect squarely on the individual. Not so Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, most cancer and heart disease, leukemia or malaria.
The latter, by the way, still kills three million people a year in sub-Saharan Africa. Yet none of these or dozens of other illnesses receive anything like the publicity or funding given to AIDS.
There are dozens of nuances of course, such as babies born with the infection and infected men being unaware of their condition when they marry. None of these problems, however, can be dealt with merely with money and pop songs.
Cash is essential to build hospitals and pay medical staff to care for the ill and dying. It also helps to educate, but not if the education is dishonest. And dishonesty abounds.
Raise money to combat the medical horrors that are seldom exposed and kill so many and for which researchers are crying out for help. Even if it won't earn you any television coverage or the cover of a magazine.
