It's Good for You/It May Kill You

Every day, there's a new health/science story that offers new info about cancer, drugs, obesity, etc. And, every day, we grow more confused about what to believe. We'll use this feature to highlight some of the confusing/contradictory articles. If we can provide some clarity we will. But don't hold your breath.

"Two important studies being published today challenge conventional thoughts about treating and avoiding breast cancer.
One suggests that doctors may eventually be able to identify women who do not need chemotherapy. The others says that women who have had hysterectomies can take estrogen to relieve symptoms of menopause without increasing their risk of breast cancer."

It appears that all these "doctors" and "researchers" have some short of "answer" to a very complex disease.  How many years ago did they inject a poor mouse in a laboratory with saccrin and say it caused cancer, now they say it was a mistake, that there appears to be no connection...Hmmm  If you want a laywoman's opinion, I believe it has a lot to do with genes for generations, and this may be so for many diseases.  But what do I know I am only a high school graduate and a senior citizen that has seen and heard a lot but am fortunate enough at age 76 to not have any enlarged heart, diabetes, cancer, stroke, high blood pressure, etc, etc, even tho I am obese, 4'11" and 180 lbs., and life goes on.  I know I have worked 60-70 hours a week, raised 7 children on my own for over 20 years before they all left the next and all are successful, own their own business', and enjoy a wonderful family life, the boys marrying older women and the girls marrying very much older men.  5 boys 2 girls.  Life goes on, regardless of all this information, disease, wars.  Just go forward and think about tomorrow, not yesterday or today, even.  Just an Ol Grannie
