Hate Speech Rights

Every day, The Onion hits the streets and asks people to weigh-in on the most pressing issues facing the country. We'll be serving it up to you every day, so keep coming back.

Christian Student Sues For Right To Hate Speech

Ruth Malhotra, a student at the Georgia Institute of Technology, sued the institution over her right to speak freely against homosexuality in accordance with her religion. What do you think?

"It would have been more appropriate for this student to sue the college for not putting money into research for a cure."

Denise Franklin, Youth Minister

A sin is a sin.  I do believe homosexuality is outside of God's plan, but so is lying or infidelity.  How about promiscuity or gluttony?   I sin, you sin, we all sin.  The only thing I don't want to see is that I can't say it's a sin or I'll be put in jail.  I'm not talking about hating someone.  If that were the case, I'd hate everyone and I would be perfect.   I'm just totally blown away when another "Christian" would want to speak hatred.

Christ did teach tolerance! And if the author of three entries above me, or anyone else being judgemental on this board really reads the Bible, they will remember things like "look not at the needle in your brothers eye, you should first remove the log from your own."  Annnnnnnnd this is my favorite. "God loves the sinner but hates the sin.." hence the reason why Christians' believe that he came here, to save us and EVERYONE from their sins. So...God does not hate sinners or people that are branded as sinners.

So if these people really believe that homosexuals are sinning - then refer back to these quotes from The Bible.  Personally, I think these righteous people should focus their attention and outrage on other things as opposed to adults that chose how to live their lives and their sexual orientation.  In my opinion, I think other things are more important in the world like starving children in Africa, women being abused and mistreated in the middle east and you know things like that... but thats just me. O by the way, Christians also believe that God gave us free will, so give these people their right for their free will.  It is God's place to judge and no other.  "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."  Go back to your book of rules sir, I think you forgot a few.

johnmac665.... My advice? Use periods! You may like the sound of your own voice too much to notice, but your paragraphs are difficult to read. I gave up half way through the first one. Sorry.

FREE SPEECH IS A RIGHT WE SHOULD HAVE WHETHER IT IS SPEECH FOR AGAINST ANY ISSUE. I USED TO BELIEVE I HAD THE RIGHT TO HATE SEX BETWEEN MEN AND TO SAY SO IN PUBLIC. NOW I BELIEVE THAT IF I SAY WHAT I FEEL I CAN GO TO JAIL FOR IT. IF THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO ESPOUSE THEIR RIGHT TO HAVE UNNATURAL, DISGUSTING SEX AND TO BE PROPONENTS FOR IT IN PUBLIC THEN MY RIGHT TO HATE THEM IS IMPLICIT. AND I DO HATE THEM AND EVERYTHING THEY ARE.  I WILL BE MOST HAPPY WHEN THE WORLD IS RID OF THE SCOURGE OF FAGGOTS.
