Parent of the Day | Moms Imitate Don King

Some fine examples of adult who, by rights, should lose their parenting license... if there were such a thing.

Two mothers and their 13-year-old daughters were arrested after police say one woman drove her already suspended daughter to school to fight a teenage rival.

Ana Rivera, 44, and Maribel Santiago, 34, are scheduled to be arraigned Thursday on a charge of simple assault in connection with Monday's fight. Their daughters and two other 13-year-old girls were charged with disorderly conduct and their cases were turned over to the Juvenile Detective Division.

Rivera allegedly drove her daughter to Woonsocket Middle School so she could fight Santiago's daughter.

To ignore that there was racism in joannevlavender's comment is to be IGNORANT of the FACTS.  What I said was plain and simple and not complicated, it had nothing to do with "Political Correctness" so don't even try to play that blame game. I said it like it should be heard, what both of those parents (and their kids) did was WRONG and plus, we also don't know the whole inside story. Also, I'm quite glad that these young adults that have attended good universities like Stanford and MIT ARE VIETNAMESE. What I'd like to know is, what's your major malfunction laerto? Unlike your nick name, you aren't a laerto. So just that you'll know, my nick name is CYTGRL1 abbreviated for coyotegirl.... I hope this helps you figure that little mystery out. This will be the easiest for you, since you and that racist teacher can't see the racism for the trees. It's really sad (and apparent) that denial and hatred must be something that you both love to spread. Oh I pray that those children she teaches can see past her hatred and not live her examples.

It figures that laerto has to call me stupid instead of paying attention to the issues at hand. It's easy to be low in mentality and to degrade another because that's all he or she has ever been taught in their lives. To be judgemental and critical without knowing all of the facts. By the way, it's very possible to be racist against those in your own race, what a dumb thing to think that this can never happen! Just because you or another person may be part of a particular race, doesn't mean that you can't grow to hate yourself or those like you in skin color. It happens every day, people are taught to hate those who are not like themselves. They are taught (even if they have no idea about themselves) whether or not they're pure white or pure black, to hate without question. This is what is STUPID, and unlike you laerto I know how to at least spell the nick names of those who respond to my blog, you're the one who is stupid and you need to grow up and see the reality that this is what life has become like but I guess this is something that evades you perhaps?   I don't even know why you had to bring up anything about the Vietnamese, (THIS WAS STUPID AND ATTENTION SEEKING BEHAVIOR ON YOUR PART) I guess you aren't done with just trying to start fights with one nationality, you have to start some shit with another?!  I have no hatred for anyone race as I come from a mixed heritage myself.  So you have no clear idea as to who or what kind of a person I am. I will say this though, you as a human being are a lousy example like that foul excuse for a teacher because teachers are here to TEACH and are not here to pass on their own opinions of hatred and lack of intolerance onto their students.

While I take issue with calling these Mexicans "stupid", the reaction of ctygirl is stupid. She laments "society" and the "state of the world" for causing gang-bangers and their refusal to take advantage of the greatest freedom to learn that they will ever have, for themselves and their children. I applaud the Teacher who wrote in and who has the courage to remain in such a school system. People like "ctygirl" are more concerned about "racism" than reality. The reality is that there will always be racism, so what? Learn anyway. No one checks race at the local library. Read, learn, get ahead. By the way, Hispanics are actually a sub-category of the caucasian race so its difficult to be "racist" against your own. It must anger people like ctygirl that the Vietnamese came to this country after the fall of Saigon, from bombed out rice paddies, and in one generation their children lead the classes at several top US engineering departments, such as Stanford and MIT. The misplaced political correctness of ctygirl is the root of our current problems in the school system. The schools should suspend and expel the children of the kind of parents described in this article. Then the "sanity" which ctygirl is looking for might possibly return to that specific school. Good luck to all the Mexicans who really want to get ahead, and don't let "racism" be the excuse for you to fail.

How predjudiced and racist of you joannevlavender! Just because you have seen some of these incidents arise at where you teach, doesn't make it all mexicans/illegals faults! These situations occur because people have become so immature and are only out to get revenge (at whatever cost) because there's not enough sanity out there in the world.

I guess you are just naturally heartless and have nothing better to do, than to point the finger of, "Lets lump all the blame of lawlessness on Illegals". I guess this is an easy way to place the blame on someone else for how society has become, without regard for individuals as a whole.
This is a sad state of life, when all we can do is just say something trite against someone or another nationality, to deflect any accountabilty to ourselves as humans.

What's also sad is that this is coming from a Teacher, if this is how you view all mexicans and other people from other nationalities, then what hope is there for the rest of the citizens of the world? Hate now and ask questions later?!

Yes, both parents and their children were wrong for doing what they did, there's no question about that but it doesn't excuse the hateful words and the way you said them.

Yes, and while it's your right to have freedom of speech, the way you went about what you said, was so callous and quick to harsh judgement against all people of mexican/nationality, which I feel is unfair.

Once again I have to say it's sad that people are becoming more and more hostile towards one another. It's no wonder to see things of this nature happen, people who say such hateful things are just a small tip of the ice berg and are a part of why fights like this occur outside and in school.

We need to educate those who are not as fortunate or (STUPID), as you have said and help them become as intelligent as ourselves and stop passing the buck of who's at fault because this isn't helping anyone evolve to become a
