The 110th Congress opened with the passage of new rules intended to curb the influence of lobbyists by prohibiting them from treating lawmakers to meals, trips, stadium box seats or the discounted use of private jets.
But it did not take long for lawmakers to find ways to keep having lobbyist-financed fun.
In just the last two months, lawmakers invited lobbyists to help pay for a catalog of outings: lavish birthday parties in a lawmaker’s honor ($1,000 a lobbyist), martinis and margaritas at Washington restaurants (at least $1,000), a California wine-tasting tour (all donors welcome), hunting and fishing trips (typically $5,000), weekend golf tournaments ($2,500 and up), a Presidents’ Day weekend at Disney World ($5,000), parties in South Beach in Miami ($5,000), concerts by the Who or Bob Seger ($2,500 for two seats), and even Broadway shows like “Mary Poppins” and “The Drowsy Chaperone” (also $2,500 for two).

Can anyone explain how we are supposed to be 'fighting for our freedoms' 'overthere' but here in the States everyone wants to take our freedoms away, such as freedom of religion? Being a muslim is not a crime nor is it something to be ashamed about. Being a rabid radical of any religion is morally corrupt and we have it in ALL religions. Even right here in the States among the so called 'Christians'. Actions speak louder than words although the words posted on the internet sure speak volumes of the hypocrisy of the 'born agains', non christians, who are NO better than the rabid radical Muslims. You make NO sense. As for lobbyists, this is a capitalist economic nation. We are a REPUBLIC, not a democracy. We have the 'right' to lobby our congresspersons. It is part of the system. In order to keep it under control we need checks and balances. For six years we didn't have our checks and balances. Things go totally out of control. We will NOT get our system under control over night. Where we the complaints when this out of control BS was taking place? Standing solidly behind the BS of 'I support our president' and ignoring what was going on in the name of patriotism? How does it feel to be dumbed down to the point of being zombies? I certainly can tell you how it LOOKS..... pathetically stupid.

I AM VERY UNHAPPY WITH THE WAY OUR COUNTRY IS HEADING.....IT APPEARS THE LIBERALS ARE PUTTING IN MUSLIMS TO RUN OUR COUNTRY WHEN WE ARE AT WAR WITH MUSLIMS.......THE PICTURE IS GETTING WORSE ALL THE TIME WHEN THEY TAKE THE OATH ON THE QURAN. AND NOW THEY WANT OBAMA WHO HAS A MUSLIM HERITAGE........NOT GOOD FOR "US". I WONDER SOMETIMES WHAT OUR KIDS FUTURE WILL BE IN 20 YRS THE WAY THINGS ARE GOING. THE LIBERALS ARE REALLY TURNING THIS COUNTRY UPSIDE DOWN, AND I DON'T AGREE WITH HOW THEY ARE DOING OR ACTING OR SUBJECTING US ALL TOO. THEY LOST MY VOTE PERMINENTLY!@

WELL, PELOSI STARTED ALL THIS BEING A CRY BABY FOR A BIGGER JET AND IT WON'T END THERE....THEY ALL THINK THEY SHOULD HAVE THE STARS AND THE MOON. THEY NEED TO FOCUS ON OUR ISSUES, NOT THERES. THEY CAN CERTAINLY LIVE WITH A SMALLER JET AND GET BY ON WHATS AVAILABLE. THESE POLITICIANS ARE SPOILED BRATS. THEY ONLY WANT FOR THEMSELVES AND THEIR FOCUS SHOULD BE ON WHAT WE NEED NOT THEM.
