College Football 2008, which NCAA team will win BCS trophy

The last time we saw NCAA college football at its finest, the Florida Gators football team beat the Ohio State Buckeyes to win the 2007 BCS Championship.

The successful NCAA college football BCS title campaign the Florida Gators had was coming off their counterpart’s equally successful title win in college basketball, paving the way for the University of Florida to become champions of both the college gridiron and college hoops.

The Florida Gators became the first ever program to hold both football and men’s basketball national titles at the same time. They defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes in convincing fashion, winning 41-14 in what turned out to be a one-sided affair.

Florida’s celebration started in the second quarter during that fateful game, and it may continue through Gator Nation until the 2007 NCAA college football season opener.

The Gators, then ranked No.2 odds on college football team in the country behind the powerhouse team from Ohio State, blitzed the Gators for 34 first-half points, led by 20 points at halftime en route to the 41-14 victory at University of Phoenix Stadium.

David Beckham football mania grips the USA

David Beckham football mania has officially taken over the United States sports and fashion media - David, together with his sexy and singer wife Victoria Beckham aka "Posh Spice" has been grabbing headlines with their every move from landing at the airport, haunting for a house and shopping sprees. Here are a few snippets from excellent David Beckham reporting and commentary at Oddjack. Major League Soccer will be HUGE in the USA in 2008 onwards thanks to David Beckham's charisma and magic - the LA Galaxy football soccer team will hog the TV news network headlines feautring Beckham plays - soccer football is definitely BIG business.

David and Victoria Beckham pose Nude for W Magazine

Of course, you just know that we’ll all be looking forward to seeing Posh Spice NUDE and not Becks.

But then again, I can’t speak for the homosexuals who read our little space in the blogosphere. And in speaking of posing nude, yeah, the Beckhams posed nude on W Magazine and ya’ll can see it in the August issue of the said magazine. I guess the Beckhams have really arrived in America now eh?

David Beckham and wife Victoria struck a somewhat sultry pose for the cover of the August issue of W Magazine (which will hit newstands on July 20 by the way…) but things get more ‘’hot and steamy'’ so to speak in a photo spread inside.

david_beckham11.jpgWhat’s with the photo spread you ask? Well, just imagine David and Victoria Beckham in different ‘’nude positions'’ while kissing rather passionately, another one on top of a car and finally, in the bedroom.

What’s even more surprising is the fact that Victoria Beckham is even more excited than horny guys like you and me.

‘’I think people are really going to see me for the first time,'’ Victoria Beckham said. ‘’I think they have this impression that I’m this miserable cow who doesn’t smile. But I’m actually quite the…'

David Beckham will debut for L.A. Galaxy on July 21

THAT is if he can recover from yet another injury.

David Beckham, after all those years kicking a ball around the field, has now become injury-prone probably because he just refuses to listen to his body, begging him to just quit and retire.

So what does his body do these days? Smack Becks with yet another injury that will probably stop the Spice Boy from playing football for about a few weeks. The latest of which came in a very opportune time, his debut with his new team the Los Angeles Galaxy is merely a few days away.

Yep, David Beckham, if he can recover in time, will be making his debut with the Los Angeles Galaxy on July 21 to play in an exhibition game against familiar foes, Chelsea FC. Beckham has played against the Chelsea Blues back when Becks was wearing his familiar No.7 jersey for the Manchester United Red Devils.

If he can recover from his latest injury, (oh yeah… the guy has been having a lot of them lately…) Beckham will be facing Chelsea again THIS TIME leading his new team from Tinseltown.

David Beckham originally injured his left ankle playing for England in a…

Real Madrid are the 2007 Spanish La Liga champions

And that’s all thanks to David Beckham… leaving the game.

It was the final fixture we’ll ever see David Beckham in a Real Madrid uniform (probably because you never really know what the Englishman will do these days…) as they went for the 2007 La Liga title with a win over Real Mallorca.

Nobody anticipated that Real Mallorca will hold a 1-0 advantage over Real Madrid with FC Barcelona already holding a commanding 4-0 lead over Gimnastic Tarragon. If those scores held up, that means FC Barcelona will be snatching the title away from Real Madrid and David Beckham will leave the Spanish La Liga as a miserable loser.

As it turns out, Real Madrid came david_beckham8.jpgback from a 0-1 deficit at halftime to win Sunday’s fixture, 3-1. Despite Barcelona’s 5-1 trashing of Gimnastic Tarragon, the 2007 Spanish La Liga title went to Madrid for winning their head-to-head results with Barca.

Perhaps the most significant effect David Beckham had in this HUGE fixture was the very instant he left the game early in the second half for a virtual unknown, Jose Antonio Reyes. Real Madrid was STILL down 0-1 when David Beckham left the game. Jose Antonio Reyes then came up with a…

Preakness Stakes 2007 Rivalry. Street Sense vs Hard Spun

The 2007 Preakness Stakes will highlight the oncoming rivalry between Street Sense and Hard Spun. Both horses will be odds on favorites to win the 2nd jewel of the Triple Crown. Here, Greg Melikov weighs in on the best horse racing rivalries. Don't forget to claim your Free Preakness Stakes bet.

Rivalries Make for Great Triple Crown Races
By GREG MELIKOV

Rivalries have added thrills galore to racing throughout the years, especially during the Triple Crown season.

Affirmed and Alydar battling in the 1978 Triple Crown season was especially electrifying as Affirmed edged Alydar in all three races to become the 11th and last TC champion.

In ’89, Easy Goer and Sunday Silence clashed three times. The runner-up in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes thwarted Sunday Silence’s bid for a sweep by taking the Belmont Stakes.

The next year, Unbridled and Summer Squall went at it twice. Trainer Carl Nafzger prevailed in the Kentucky Derby over Summer Squall, but the bridesmaid turned the tables in the Preakness Stakes.

Nafzger aims to avoid history repeating itself inthe 132nd Preakness Stakes when he saddles impressive Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense on Saturday.

Trainer Larry Jones, however, is confident that at the 2007 Preakness Stakes his Hard Spun can avenge his second place finish in Louisville and capture the 1 3/16 mile contest at Pimlico, home of quality thoroughbred horse racing in Maryland.

“We may have to do something different here if we are going to spoil his Triple Crown,” Jones said. “I like Carl a lot, but I don’t intend for him to have the Triple Crown.”

There are similarities between Hard Spun and Summer Squall:

In ’90, Unbridled came from well off the pace to gain the lead in the Derby by a length with a furlong to go and drew off by 3 ½ lengths. This year, Street Sense came from far back to lead by a length with a furlong to go and drew clear by 2 ¼ lengths.

In ’90, Summer Squall was second with a furlong to go in the Derby and ran second. Earlier that year, he won the Jim Beam Stakes, now known as the Lane’s End, at Turfway Park. This year, Hard Spun was second a furlong from the Churchill Downs wire and finished second. Earlier, he won the Lane’s End.

In ’90, Summer Squall defeated Unbridled in the Preakness. Can Hard Spun duplicate that feat?

Maybe, but the odds favor Street Sense for several reasons. First, eight of the last 20 Derby winners prevailed in the Preakness. In the 21st Century, two scored with the greatest of ease: Smarty Jones by 11 ½ lengths in ’04 and Funny Cide the previous year by 9 ¾ lengths.

Secondly, the only Derby runner-up to take the Preakness since Summer Squall was Prairie Bayou in ’93.

So I like Street Sense to win the $1 million Preakness. Heck, I like him to win the 2007 Belmont Stakes, too

Calvin Borel will keep the son of Street Cry closer to the pace and there are at least 10 fewer foes than on May 5.

Check out Street Sense’s six races at a mile or longer: He was on the lead in the stretch for half of them, but no farther behind than three-quarters of a length.

The horses I believe will give him the most trouble and hit the board are:

Curlin: This lightly raced colt was steadied early after breaking from Post 2 in the Derby, encounter tight quarters between horses along the backstretch, advanced to eighth through traffic after a mile and rallied to run third.

In all three previous outings, the improving son of Smart Strike grabbed a comfortable lead in the stretch and cruised home averaging 9 ½ lengths ahead at the wire.

King of the Roxy: The Santa Anita Derby runner-up, one of a half-dozen horses in the expected nine-horse field that skipped America’s Race, has been working well at regular intervals since April 22. On Saturday, he breezed 1:14 2/5 for six furlongs on the BelmontPark training track.

NBA Playoffs: Dallas Mavericks survive elimination by Golden State Warriors

Worried

Aw c'mon Baron Davis and crew, it's time to bring it on and cause one massive ORGY at the Golden State Warriors turf (which is where exactly? oops) by eliminating the Dallas Mavericks and Dirk Nowitzki from the NBA basketball Playoffs 2007.

Yeah, the top seed Dallas Mavericks going out in the first round will be a fantastic achievement for yall GS dudes. Since the defending champion Miami Heat melted (no, that was UGLY - they were swept by the rampaging CHICAGO BULLS) in the first round - might as well the top seeds make an early exit too. right?

Australia vs Sri Lanka Cricket World Cup 2007

Frustrated

The Cricker World Cup 2007 is now on it's Final stages, what a roller coaster of a tournament for cricket fans, no India, Pakistan or England, the rise of West Indies and the death of Bob Woolmer. Good luck to all cricket fans. Here's a post from JJ at Oddjack, one of my favorite blogs.

As expected, powerhouse Australia is in the 2007 Cricket World Cup final. They will face Sri Lanka on Saturday as the tournament comes to a close.

I don’t know about you but I always knew we will see the Aussies in the final game of the 2007 Cricket World Cup. There’s just something about these ‘’heavy favorites'’ that they always, more often than not, come through what’s expected of them.

Australia will face Sri Lanka on Saturday for the 2007 Cricket World Cup championship match. At this point, does it even matter who the Aussies play? You just know they’re going to win it all now one way or the other anyway.

ricky_ponting.jpgAnd yeah, to prove just how confident Australia is heading to their cricket world cup title game on Saturday, Australia cricket team captain Ricky Ponting says they are not afraid of Sri Lanka. Heck, who’s telling him they’re afraid of those guys anyway?

Sri Lanka is coming off a seven-wicket defeat heading to the 2007 Cricket World Cup final on Saturday. Stars like Muttiah Muralitharan, Chaminda Vaas and Lasith Malinga were rested, probably to have them ready for powerhouse Australia.

Of course, the Australian captain doesn’t agree with the tactic.

‘’They had a chance to make a statement in that game but chose not to,'’ Australia cricket team captain Ricky Ponting said.

De La Hoya vs Floyd Mayweather Boxing Classic

The Golden Boy vs the Pretty Boy is a modern boxing classic is to unfold on May 5 2007 as Floyd Mayweather Jr battles Oscar De La Hoya.

Mayweather is the odds favorite at -220 while De La Hoya is a 220 underdog.

Oscar de la Hoya is one of the most talented boxer in history, tons of power for his size and has never backed down from anyone!  De la Hoya has about 4 losses on his record 1 against Trinidad which was close, two by Sugar Shane which was close and the last lost against Hopkins which also controversal - a kidney shot where the referee counted to 10 in like 3 secs.

This boxing fight on May 5 will be Floyd Mayweather’s first loss! He has never fought a fight that even came close to the Golden Boy!

Too much size power, experience, for the Pretty Boy Floyd! Oscar is going to give him his best boxing lesson since his daddy when he was a amateur son!

Floyd Mayweather;s uncle might stop the fight by hitting Oscar in the early rounds for beating his newphews ass! He should not be allowed back in the corner after the Judah fight! Judah beat his ass too so basically I’m for Hoya and anyone that’s not will see come May 5th when the Golden Boy proves to be the best boxer of his era.

I hope Oscar doesn’t retire anytime soon I would love to see him fight more against Barrera or some body that is worth fighting!

Mayweather talking all that shit is going to get his ass handed to him Freddy Roach is an outstanding trainer Hoya a unbelievable boxer!

De La Hoya more speed, more power, smarter, faster, better combos, in better shape, Mayweather looks like a lil kid compared to Oscar!

NBA Playoffs: 2007 Basketball Series Odds

Silly

2007 NBA Basketball Playoffs  first round of action series odds.

The Miami Heat's Dwayne Wade and Shaquille O'neal are +185 underdogs vs the rampaging Chicago Bulls which are HUGE -225 favorites.
Bookmakers have already concluded that The Washington Wizards lost this first round of NBA playoffs with odds of +3,000 vs Lebon James’ Cleveland Cavaliers which are untouchable favorites at -5,600. Aw c’mon, who will risk $5,600 to win $100? Even if you say it’s SURE MONEY that the BrOWNS, err. the CAVALIERS will kick the WIZARDS out of the NBA playoffs even without Lebron. Yeah, the WIZARDS are beating themselves.

The New Jersey Nets Jason Kidd and Vince Carter are
-200 favorites vs the Toronto Raptors +170.
Kore Bryant’s Los Angeles Lakers are super underdogs (almost without a chance of winning) with odds of +1,200 vs the Phoenix Suns and its leader Steve Nash who are -2,000 favorites. Are you kidding me? Risk $2000 to win $100? No way Jose! Even if you say it’s SURE MONEY that the SUNS will FINISH OFF the LAKERS in 3.

Carmelo Anthony and Allen Iversion lead the underdog Denver Nuggets +180 vs the San Antonio Spurs
, Tim Duncan and Tony Parker - the favorites at -260.

Lastly, there’s the Golden State Warriors at only +400 vs the league leader in wins Dallas Mavericks, only -560 favorite.  If you ask me, this is the series where I will put my money on the longshot underdog Golden State Warriors. Baron Davis and Barbosa and crew have the Mavericks number - Don Nelson knows the weakness of his former team. Hahaha, bye DIRK!
