Casinos DVD movies: Casino Royale & Casino
Here are a few top movies about casinos now on DVD , gambling and the lavish lifestyle yet grotesque culture behind the screen. Casino Royale
The most successful invigoration of a cinematic franchise since Batman Begins, Casino Royale offers a new Texas Hold’em poker playing Bond identity. Based on the Ian Fleming novel that introduced Agent 007 into a Cold War world, Casino Royale is the most brutal and viscerally exciting James Bond film since Sean Connery left Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Meet the new Bond; not the same as the old Bond. Daniel Craig gives a galvanizing performance as the freshly minted double-0 agent. Suave, yes, but also a “blunt instrument,” reckless, and possessed with an ego that compromises his judgment during his first mission to root out the mastermind behind an operation that funds international terrorists. In classic Bond film tradition, his global itinerary takes him to far-flung locales, including Uganda, Madagascar, the Bahamas (that’s more like it), and Montenegro, where he is pitted against his nemesis in a poker game, with hundreds of millions in the pot. The stakes get even higher when Bond lets down his “armor” and falls in love with Vesper (Eva Green), the ravishing banker’s representative fronting him the money.
- - - - Casino
Director Martin Scorsese reunites with members of his GoodFellas gang (writer Nicholas Pileggi; actors Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, and Frank Vincent) for a three-hour epic about the rise and fall of mobster Sam “Ace” Rothstein (De Niro), a character based on real-life gangster Frank “Lefty” Rosenthal. (It’s modeled after on Wiseguy and GoodFellas and Pileggi’s true crime book Casino: Love and Honor in Las Vegas.) Through Rothstein, the picture tells the story of how the Mafia seized, and finally lost control of, Las Vegas gambling. The first hour plays like a fascinating documentary, intricately detailing the inner workings of Las Vegas casinos. Sharon Stone is the stand out among the actors; she nabbed an Oscar nomination for her role as the voracious Ginger, the glitzy call girl who becomes Rothstein’s wife. The film is not as fast paced or gripping as Scorsese’s earlier gangster pictures (Mean Streets and GoodFellas), but it’s still absorbing. And, hey–it’s Scorsese! (Additional note: the digital video disc has a “layer switch,” allowing you to watch the entire film without interruption.) –Jim Emerson

We will cover more movies about gambling , the people, faces and places and the lavish lifestyle yet grotesque culture behind the glitzy screen.

Bet on Rock Paper Scissors game
The easy casual game all folks around the world know - Rock Papers Scissors - is now an online gambling game, too. And not only a gambling game but Rock Paper Scissors is also an online tournament format gambling game! Crazy huh? What is Roshambo?
There’s a good chance you’ve played Roshambo before. Sure, maybe it wasn’t online. But we’re willing to bet that you’ve played this popular decision-based game somewhere in your career as a fun seeker.
Commonly referred to as Rock, Scissors, Paper, Roshambo is used to settle scores and make selections when a simple coin toss or drawing straws just doesn’t seem fair. Which friend gets the extra ticket to tonight’s playoff game? Roshambo to find out. Who’s stuck driving tonight? Roshambo and discover the loser. Playing the Rock Paper Scissors game
As the above paragraph suggests, Roshambo involves three things – a rock, a pair of scissors and a piece of paper. What’s in your hands is entirely up to you.
In Roshambo, you don’t play against the house. You play against another live opponent. The object of the game is to win a match against your opponent. A match consists of a series of throws.
For each throw, you’ll select from a rock, a pair of scissors and a piece of paper. Your opponent will do the same. Your opponent cannot see what object you have chosen until both parties have made a selection.
Once both parties have chosen, their choices will be revealed. The winner of the throw is based on the following Roshambo diagram. Please consult the section ‘Remembering Roshambo Rules’ a few sections down to help you understand the logic behind the madness.
Rock – Beats Scissors Scissors – Beat Paper Paper – Beats Rock
Playing Rock Paper Scissors Online at UltimateBet
1) To access Roshambo, click the Roshambo button on the left side of the game. 2) Two more buttons will appear below it. Choose from Real Money or Free games. 3) On the tabbed screen, choose from Games (cash games) or SnG Tournaments (Sit and Gos). Note the bet or buy-in for each match. 4) Double click the table name to be taken to your table. 5) Click the ‘Take a Seat’ button to sit down. 6) If you’re playing a cash game, select the amount of money you’d like to bring to the table. 7) Click bet to begin a match. 8) You now have 30 seconds to make your selection. This time limit applies to each and every throw. If you fail to make a selection, a choice will randomly be made for you. 9) Once both parties have made their selections, the winner of the throw will be revealed.
Things to remember about ROSHAMBO:
- To win a match, you must win the specified number of throws. - If there is a tie, the throw does not count and will be replayed until a winner of that throw is determined. - Rake is 10%. This applies to both cash games (10% of pot) and SnG Tournaments (10% of buy-in).
Rock Paper Scissors Terminology at a glance
Throw – If poker or blackjack is your game, think of a throw as a hand Match – A 'best of' series is considered a match. For example, 'best of 3 throws' is a match
Roshambo (Rock Paper Scissors) Game Rules
When it comes down to it, the rules of ‘what beats what’ is pretty logical. Here’s a handy guide to help you remember it all.
Rock Beats – Scissors Loses to – Paper How to remember – Drop a rock on a pair of scissors, the scissors will break. A piece of paper, on the other hand, has rock covered.
Scissors Beats – Paper Loses to – Rock How to remember – With its sharp blades, a pair of scissors can destroy a piece of paper. But drop a rock on the scissors and there’s a good chance you’ll break the scissors.
Paper Beats – Rock Loses to – Scissors How to remember – A piece of paper can wrap a rock. But a pair of scissors will cut right through it.
