Macau Casino Gambling Revenue up 46%

Macau, China, 17 July – Gross casino gambling revenues in Macau in the first six months totaled 38.37 billion patacas (US$ 4.79 billion), a year-on-year increase of 46.26 percent, according to official figures.

Macau’s Directorate of Gaming Inspection and Coordination said second-quarter casino revenues were 19.772 billion patacas (US$ 2.471 billion), the largest value ever recorded in the second quarter and an annual increase of 48.91 percent.

Macau’s casinos had gross revenues of 37.974 billion patacas (US$ 4.746 billion) in the first six months and 19.567 billion patacas (US$ 2.445 billion) in the second quarter.

Revenues from Macau casinos in the first six months of the year is already higher than in the whole of 2003, when gamblers spent 30.314 billion patacas.

Four varieties of baccarat - baccarat, VIP baccarat, mini-baccarat and three-card baccarat, maintain their popularity and generated 86.8 percent of total revenues in the first half of the year, with VIP baccarat alone creating receipts of 25.208 billion patacas (US$ 3.151 billion).

Macau currently has 26 casinos with 18 of these casinos belonging to Stanley Ho’s Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, five to Galaxy, with Venetian, Wynn resorts and Melco PBL operating one apiece. (story from macauhub)
