We have all heard of the term “Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) ” which is psychological condition that soldiers involved in the horrors of combat often suffer from, as do other people who are likewise involded in a traumatic event like war. But don’t we also need a psychological term for our insane, warmongering politicians and the think-tank weirdoes who provide them with new pretexts for going to war? Surely, the craving to have lots wars, at the drop of a hat, is a kind of insanity—am I correct?
But why isn’t this powerul craving to go to war mentioned in the DSM-IV handbook for mental health professionals like “Posttraumatic Stree Disorder” is? What about those who, right now, envision bombing Iran? What is going on inside of their brains? Surely their neurons are abnormal. Couldn’t their brain be like the brain put into the creature Frankenstein’s cranium?
It seems that America, in recent history, has never been satisfied just to fight one war at a time. Two wars are better. Take the example of the cold war. It was really bad—we faced nuclear annihilaiton—but there were some with a strong craving for even more wars. They thought the idea of having a war in Vietnam would be a great idea, which followed the Korean war. Heck, let’s have two wars going—a cold one and a hot one! We can afford it!
While 9/11 was happening, I can imagine the warmongers really got excited. Their insatiable desire to have another war, like Vietnam, was about to become a living, blood red reality. After the horrible event of 9/11, they probably looked something like the character Jack Nicholson played in Stanley Kubrick’s movie, The Shining, when he had finally flipped his lid. But no sooner had their wonderful war in Afghanistan started than they saw the need to have a second war with Iraq and maybe even nuke Iran in a year or two if they could find a good excuse.
Presently, while two and possibly three wars are going on, the public thinks there is nothing wrong with politicans who possess an insatiable appetite for war. On top of that, later we find out that these same politicans love to torture all kinds of people as well, even small Iraqi children! I bet they were watching DVDs of people being tortured to death—enjoying every last, exhilarating minute of it.
Should not the great minds who put together the DSM-IV now make a category for warmongers and those who love to find pretexts to have one war after another? At least we could say, “Well, it looks like old Senator Hogback is suffering from Hyper Conflictomania. They may have to put him on Paxnobelli, those new meds I saw advertised last week.”
At some point on the long road of evolution from beast to human we might finally have to make the determination--and stick to it--that warmongering and spending the public treasury on weaponry, is not civilized. In fact, there is no justification, whatsoever, for any collection of bipedal, air breathing beings, who call themselves a country, to crave war and multiply reasons to go to war under such nutty ideas as preemption and preventative This would be like gunning down your next door neighbor in his driveway as he was going to work because you found out he owns an assault rifle.
At some point we are going to have to put all the warmongers into our insane asylums, or give them some kind of electro-convulsive love therapy (ECLT). I mean people like President Bush, Vice-President Cheney, and Senator Nuke'm Joe Lieberman are insane as well as most of the crazies who work at the American Enterpirse Institute (AEI).
