Other Literary Persons - [ Two entries before this one/ I wrote of finding two somethings this Friday I did not expect to find. I shared the first of those there. Here I'll be sharing the second. Mysteries do enfold my life; and due to my beliefs, these mysteries are not random events. ] In an old manila folder I had labeled Literary Info I found a Volume 7, Number 8 September-October 1985 copy of American Book Review. I see it had been mailed to me. I do not know why I kept it, and I have not tried to discern why. I had, however, left it open so that pages 10 and 11 were visible. These are pages centered on Robert Duncan and on his having won the 1985 National Poetry Award. Duncan's book of the moment was Ground Work: Before the War, and then I noted that beginning on page 10 was a review of that book by Ron Silliman. I placed that ABR on my bed, stood beside my bed, and read Mr. Silliman's review. As I read, it became evident/ what I was learning about Robert Duncan and Ron Silliman (who at that time was not, as they say, on my radar) was less important than what I was learning about myself. - Yesterday, or the day before, I had a similar experience when I read online an article about a poet I was slightly aware of, but never enough interested in to become more aware of: William Bronk; and I would not have on that day sought to know more had I not first been interested in learning more about Marjorie Perloff, and had come upon and read/ an online interview of her by a writer who had written three books about William Bronk. - My life is a plethora of mysteries I am certain--however poorly I am able to appreciate them--are not random. - Once I find it, I intend to link this entry to a rather strange something I wrote a few years back/ while I was briefly online at a business-oriented site. It is a something which/ occurs in a cave. for copyright information see homepage Brian A. J. Salchert
