BIG News: Biggie's Case Reopened

If any of you have been following the ongoing coverage of the Notorious B.I.G. murder case in Rolling Stone Magazine, you'll be as glad as I am to see this tidbit from Rolling Stone Daily, 8/1:

NOTORIOUS B.I.G. CASE REOPENED

Nearly a decade after the drive-by shooting death of the NOTORIOUS B.I.G., the Los Angeles Police Department has decided to reopen his unsolved murder case. According to the "Los Angeles Times," six senior homicide detectives have been assigned to a task force with its own budget, office and computerized tracking system to sift through seventy-two volumes of evidence from the original investigation. (The FBI gave up on a similar effort last year.) Much of the reasoning behind the reopened case reportedly stems from the accusations of Voletta Wallace, Biggie's mother, and his widow, FAITH EVANS, who claim that members of the LAPD conspired to kill the rapper as part of the East Coast/West Coast rap feud and have hidden key evidence -- including corrupt cop details from a jailhouse informant -- as a result. A retrial date is set for October 16th.

Get a phenomenal overview of exactly where things were left before the case was reopened in the article, "The Unsolved Mystery of The Notorious B.I.G.: The Murder. The Cover-Up. The Conspiracy." (page 124, Rolling Stone Magazine, December 15, 2005 -- the Hip-Hop 2005 issue)
