I know its only the third game of the season, but this is a crucial game for the Lions. Its the best team they have played so far this season. And there is a huge difference betweem 2-1 and first place and 1-2 which could still be first place but with less luster.

So Tampa Bay is the best Defensive Team in the league, they have a prolifent rusher in Cadillac Williams. And they have Chucky Gruden. All that adds up to a demolishinig of Detroit Right?.....WRONG.

I think Tampa Bay is thinking this is going to be a cup cake win, but i beg to differ. Detroit is gooing to come out PISSED OFF. I think they give Tampa a run for there money in this one. They may or may not win but it is going to be a lot closer than many are thinking.

I think the Defense is goign to stop this arrogant Rookie Running Back and Brian Griese just doesn't scare anyone.

The Offense is going to bust out this week against the so called Best Defense in the League. Tampa is a fraud and this week the Lions will show that.

Detroit 21 Tampa 17

Very Productive Bye Week for the Lions, they currently hold a Half a game lead in the North. Good for them but dont get comfortable.

Its disheartening to look at who they beat Green Bay ( 0-3) and who the lost too Chicago(1-2)

Green Bay has looked enemic in 3 games. Favre just isn't Favre and They apparently have no running Game, So in retrospect the lions SHOULD of beat Green Bay.

Chicago , well its been the really crappy no Offense Bears that showed up in there opener and against Tampa Bay, AND then there were the Bears that just knocked the crap out of the Lions.

So looking at the two games they have played it just very well could be a long season. However One Bright Spot (this is for you Jon) i do look for Joey to be stellar but the rest of the team to falter.

Later this week, Tampa/Detroit review and my pick.

Lions 6 Bears 38

There are no words.

Positive??? Well still in first place.

UPDATE

Later that evening after i've calmed down.

Well after being seriously pissed for about 2 hours i think i can honestly voice my opinion. I know most people will be bashing the Lions tomorrow (mind you they got lots of love after last weeks win) saying that they wont win another game. Well im going to spin it another way.

The Lions are going into a bye week. A nice ass kicking like they just recieved should be a nice Wake up call for these underachievers. Mooch needs to come out screeming. Threaten everyones job. Including Joey's. (not that i want to see Orlovski hes just bad). This team needed something. They needed to bond. A nice kick in the ass can sometimes really bring a team together, make them work harder. And going into a bye week is perfect. You have 2 weeks to work on timing and running better routes. You have 2 weeks to figure how to give Kevin Jones the ball more. You have 2 weeks to figure out why our Special Teams is pathetic. You have 2 Weeks to get the defense on the same page. 2 weeks. 2 weeks to get this team where its supposed .....to where it SHOULD be.

There is no doubt that the Chicago Bears offense is pitiful, starting a rookie QB last week they looked bad against a really bad Redskin Defense. So having said that you would think the Lions would be able to go in there a just put a beatdown on the Bears.

I'm not so sure its going to be that easy. This is another rivalry game that you can throw the records and talent out the window. Chicago although pitiful on Offense has a phenominal Defense. This game is going to be decided by the kicking game and there in lies the problem.

Still no word out of the Hanson camp wether he is able to kick or not after straining his hamstring last week. The Lions have tried out a few kickers including former Wolverine Remy Hamilton, but no signings as of yesterday.

So this is going to be a test of charactor for this team, if they want to become part of the NFL elite than they must win with adversity.

Lions 13 Bears 6

Lions 17 Packers 3

First off i would like to thank Ahmad Carrol for allowing the Lions to score there first 10 points. He apparently was in love with our wide recievers he just wanted to rub there faces all day.....too bad for him thats a penalty in the NFL.

Well, it wasn't pretty but 2 great drives were the bread around some very buttery conservative football. I was impressed with Joey Harrington he handled the game, took what he was given and didn't force anything. I also liked the long passes, even though the only successful one was Charles Rogers 31 yard grab in the fourth, it still showed the Lions are looking to push the ball down the feild.

Unfortunately the lack of scoring in the first half put the Offensive Coordinator in conservative mode. But after being booed by the fans early in the fourth after 2 straight 3rd down running plays that failed, in the final drive they opened it up a bit more.

Kevin Jones had a very good day with 85 quality yards, but the biggest impact player of the week goes to Marcus Pollard who had 5 great catches in the game including one for the lions first TD.

Statement?? I wonder if the Lions Defense was making a statement today. That was one of the best defensive games the Lions have played in quite a long time. They picked Brett Favre off 3 times, recovered 2 fumbles and sacked favre 3 times. With 2 huge sacks in the waning moments of the Fourth to kill any chance of a Packer Comeback.

So in any event, good game, much improvement still needed, but Definitely a shining day for the Lions as they are the only team to win in the NFC North. Lets just stay here for the rest of the season.

Wow a win on Friday, does that mean the fans and radio Personalities are going to be talking about a drive to the superbowl this week..... Detroit Fans and Media are an unorthodox teeter tawter. After a win its Championship Time, After a loss its scrap the whole thing and start over.

On that note, the preseason is FINALLY OVER, They shouldn't call it Preseason it should just be called scrimmage games. They are a joke to watch on TV. Their is no way in Hell i would ever pay full price to watch this garbage at the stadium. Its Just a way for the Teams to make more Money.

Moving on. With the season getting underway. Im getting Pressure from Justin and Jon to make my predictions for the upcoming season. Well im calling for a ..............<drum roll please>

10 - 6

Season. Yep 10-6.

The Lions will be dominant in the North. Winninig both home and away games against the Vikes and Bears and splitting the season series with Green Bay winning at home and losing in Lambeau.

That leaves only 5 out of division wins. Tampa Bay, Arizona, Cleveland, Cincinatti, and a surprising Regular season finale win against Pittsburgh.

So there it is my picks. Oh wait one more Pick for your enjoyment. JOEY HARRINGTON WILL MAKE THE PRO BOWL THIS YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!

Holy Moly what is wrong with people this is preseason....i said this is PRESEASON.

These games dont mean anything. The Lions accomplished the number one goal yesterday and that was to stay healthy. They had 0 major injuries in last nights game.

So they didn't win....Big Deal. So they looked sluggish....Big Deal. So the defense looked like "POP WARNER" as Mr Madden said....Big Deal.

THIS IS PRESEASON....get over it. Hey fans guess what next week they are going to look like crap too .... Big Deal.

All the naysayers out there crack me up THIS IS PRESEASON. Joey is going to be fine. Kevin Jones is gonna be the 1800 yard Back everyone expects him to be. Dre Bly is not going to be as beatable as he has looked. THIS IS PREASON.

This is nothing other than glorified Practice. 2 weeks until the season begins. Just wait until than.

The Detroit Lions scored a huge victory this off season with two major signings todays.

The Lions landed the biggest free agent safety in Kenoy Kennedy today signing him to a five year 14 million dollar deal with a 4.1 million dollar signing bonus. Kennedy, a four-year starter in Denver's defensive backfield, bolsters the Lions' safety corps of Brock Marion, Bracy Walker and Terrence Holt. This gives the Lions defense a toughness it has lacked in many many years.

The Lions also inked a 3 year 6 million dollar deal with TE Marcus Pollard formally of the Indianappolis Colts. Finally a proven veteran with big catch capability. He may have caught less than 20 Catches last year but 6 were for TD's. That gives the Lions a bigger threat in the red zone. After the bust with Stephen Alexander this year the Lions needed a better TE.

So after sitting on their laurels the first week of the free agent market the Lions impressed me with these two signings. Now they need to make a decision about the Backup QB situation. They are currently running out of options, with Warner and Brees being picked up this week that really only leaves Brad Johnson and Jeff Garcia as viable quarterbacks. Well i guess there is always........Vinnie Testeverde.

Well the preseason bologna is halfway over. Once again this week we see Joey Harrington orchestrate another long drive down the field only to have the coach call 3 conservative plays inside the 10. Oh well its only preseason.

Jeff Garcia on the other hand, continues to prove to me that he is no more than a Teaching Aid for Harrington. He may know the offense but he runs around thinking hes Mike Vick or something. Garcia you have happy feet, settle them puppies down. He has 3 interceptions allready this preseason Harrington has 0.

I know its just preseason but all the talk about a QB controversy should be thrown out the window. This is Harringtons job and i just dont see him losing it.

Man i hate the preseason, It doesn't prove or disprove squat. Lets just get to some real football. Im anxiously waiting on Joey Harrington to prove all the naysayers wrong. He is going to have phenominal year.

He looked good on Friday going 9/9 for 100yrds. But its only Preseason. To paraphrase Alan Iverson "Preseason..its not a real game...its only Preseason"

But at least we only have to deal with a month of this than the Real fun starts.

Also happy to announce i ordered my Tickets for the Oct 30th game versus the Bears. I Finally get to see Ford Field. Woohoo
