your own radio station

When asked what kind of music I like, I'd always give the predictable answer of "Oh, I like a little of everything." That was and isn't true at all. I'm far too grumpy and opinionated to be that open-minded. My tastes are getting more and more narrow all the time.
Anyway...
I recently came across www.pandora.com which is a site that describes itself as a "music genome project". You can create your own radio station and the more you play around on the site, the more music it finds that caters to what your ears appreciate. They play songs and you give each one a thumbs up or down...each song has hundreds of "qualities" that are cross-referenced with hundreds of thousands of song selections they have. You can also bookmark specific artists and songs you love. And then there's just a steady stream of songs with no interruption -- like a radio station. They have banner ads, but you can reduce the window and just listen if you want. You can even share your station with other people.
There are two downsides:
1. It is very easy to get lost in this site for hours. If you are needing to be more productive these days -- don't visit pandora right now.
2. It suddenly exposes you to artists and CDs that you will feel like you must buy immediately! Don't go to pandora if you are an impulsive amazon-shopper and/or on a tight budget.
If anybody would like to hear my station leave your email in the comments and I'll send you the link.

Yep, Pandora ROCKS! I've been playing with it for at least 2 years now. I have several 'stations' set up that I play based on mood... I even have 2 different Christmas channels set up <LOL> I haven't been playing with it much recently as I find myself playing with it more than working if I 'run it in the background'. Welcome to a new addiction... at least it is fun <g>

Ok, you've found me a new addiction. I didn't think I would enjoy this little website quite as much as I am. I can't stop adding music to my playlist! And it's REALLY good at picking out things I would normally listen to without having to tell it. I think I'm in love. ;)
