overheard 3/27/08

I overheard this conversation while getting lunch at the company cafeteria the other day. At first I thought it sounded pretty stupid, but it's making more and more sense as I let the words swim around in my head. Maybe I need sleep.

OMG it makes sense!

My first reaction was one-upmanship of typical corporate double/triple speak. Then I thought about it, and it does make complete sense.
Analogy
Problem: I didn't _______, because_______. OK. And seriously, I'm just pulling this out of my--hat--because I can't think of anything else really universal (and inoffensive).
"I didn't brush my teeth, because there was no toothpaste." And why was there no toothpaste? "Because, I forgot to buy any."
I always buy toothpaste--and even if I did run out, there's always soda and salt--but it's a good excuse. I guess I could have said, I didn't shower because there was no soap--but that could be offensive. And that really has happened. -

It does make a weird kind of sense. I think.
