we're moving!

"Beat at Joes" will go dormant as of tonight.  I'm combining this blog with my regular blog http://journals.aol.com/toonguykc/InnerOuterDemons/ .  That's been my all-purpose journal for almost three years now.  It's mostly written word stuff, but will soon feature cartoons & artwork as well.  I just don't have the time or energy to keep two blogs going on a regular basis.

Here is a cartoon which kinda illustrates both my fatigue and the onslaught of Summer heat we've been experiencing here in Hooterville.

see you over at Inner and Outer Demons.....

Overheard in Kansas City

I missed part of the conversation because I got on the elevator too late.

paranormal activity

I drew this about three hours ago while watching the 2003 remake of "Dawn of the Dead" -- one of the best zombie films ever made.

clean kitty

You have to admire cats.  When they suddenly feel that their privates need a little "freshening up" they will just stop and take care of things -- no matter who's watching.

(from a very old sketchbook)

more New Yorkers

I'll try not to make a habit of stealing bits from overheardinnewyork.com for cartoon inspiration, but this conversation was just too priceless.  I'm sure I've said similar things after downing a few drinks.

P.S.  Now that I look at this cartoon again....hmmmm.  Combine these two guys together and take away the glasses and it would be a fairly accurate self-portrait. Hmmmm.

Time to invest in a really good deadbolt and/or a German Shepherd!

overheardinnewyork.com

That's the name of a website I've been sporadically addicted to for about two years.  It's a collection of brief conversations overheard by people in New York City.  Don't go there if you are easily offended.

Here is one overheard verbal exchange I thought worthy of an illustration.  You just gotta love them New Yorkers!!

two guys named "Dale"

If I'd been born a heterosexual breeder -- there are several names that would automatically be ruled out for my babies.  "Dale" is one of them.  As a kid I knew two Dales and they were both ....challenged...or whatever the word is for that kind of thing now.  It wasn't until about fifteen years ago that I finally met a relatively normal man named Dale.  I didn't draw him.

"Stanley" and "Lyle" are also no good for me.

Nevermind.
