FIRST GOLD FOR CHAD HEDRICK AND THE USA!

Chad Hedrick
, the brash, boastful speedskating sensation from Texas, dominated the competition today in winning his 1st of a possible 5 gold medals in Torino.

Known as 'The Exception' for his rule-breaking approach to training, Hedrick clinched the win in the men's 5000-meters by a margin of nearly 2 seconds over his nearest competitor, Sven Kramer of the speed skating-mad Netherlands. Shani Davis of the U.S. was 7th.

Gold: Chad Hedrick - USA
Silver: Sven Kramer - Netherlands
Bronze - Enrico Fabris - Italy
7th - Shani Davis - USA
19th - KC Boutiette - USA

Get used to this face America! Boasts Hedrick: "I didn't come here to win one gold medal. You're going to see my face a lot more."

I am really glad that he won and I hope that he wins it all! He is really a great athlete and he has attitude, which is what you need these days. So, he is a little cocky. That makes it even more fun. I just think he is great, and when he broke down about missing his grandmother, well that just shows how human he is. Good luck, Chad!

    Chad,

Way to go. Being boastful and proud of your self  means believing in yourself. There should be more of this. We should all know what it takes to be a champion. Proud of you.

Just goes to show you don't have to come from a state of snow & ice to win at a winter sport!  Way to go Chad, Texas is behind you all the way!

Chad, before you become a sore winner, how about winning first. That would be a good start.
