I got a little preview of what Torino will be like when I arrived for
Sports Bloggers Live last night -- 'whoa, there's an Olympian in the
room!' Yes folks, I had the pleasure of meeting figure skating
great Michael Weiss. What a thrill to have him and
his lovely wife Lisa here on the AOL campus
yesterday.

In case you were wondering: he's even better looking in person.
Michael was a guest on Sports Bloggers Live last night. Click here to listen to his take on the new figure skating scoring system, the Olympics and more.
I was rooting for Michael to make the Olympic team last month at figure skating nationals. But Torino's loss is our gain -- as many Road to Torino readers are no doubt aware, Michael is blogging about figure skating. It's great to get his insights and the inside scoop as Michael sizes up the various competitors and events as well as American skaters' medal chances in Torino. Read Michael's blog: Michael Weiss on Turin
Thanks to Joe, AOL's blog guru extraordinaire, for the photo of Michael and me! Check out Joe's blog Magic Smoke for more on Michael Weiss's visit to AOL.
Side comment about figure skating, as I'm watching the men's short program on NBC:
Evgeny Plushenko is great, he's the favorite, man to beat, he set the bar with his short program, etc. etc. But when he did his straight-line footwork it looked like he was having a grand-mal seizure.
I'm sure our intrepid SBL host Jamie will be be unsurprised to see that Plushenko is still sporting his mullet.
But how ABOUT that Johnny Weir? The SBL alum skated beautifully in his short program and heads into Thursday's long program in 2nd behind the mulleted one. Nice position to be in - bring home some bling, Johnny!
