Olympic scandal watch

The first athlete to test positive for doping -- a Russian biathlete -- has been stripped of her silver medal and expelled from the Olympics. The banned substance Olga Pyleva tested positive for was carphedon, a stimulant.

Pyleva's comment: 'What's happened is just monstrous stupidity.'

No word on whether she'll be thrown in the slammer. In Italy, doping infractions are a criminal offense.

The rules are the rules and breaking them carries consequences.  Monstrous stupidity would be in order for the following situations:

    1.  She was wrongly diagnosed
    2.  The incident was overlooked and there were not consequences
