It was
awesome to see Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto skate their way to a silver medal last night in the ice dance final. Since there was no way the Russian pair of Navka and Kostomarov were going to leave with anything less than a gold medal, I'd say Belbin and Agosto's silver is as good as gold!
I couldn't get into the Palavela for the event, so I watched with a bunch of other Americans at MacGillycuddy's, an Australian-Italian-Irish pub in the Roman quarter here in Torino. They had a giant screen up to show the event and we clapped and cheered for Tanith and Ben. This is the first Olympic medal in ice dancing for the United States since 1976!
Make sure to read what skating expert Michael Weiss has to say about it all (and while you're there, don't miss his take on the 'bad boy of skating' -- Dick Button!).

The Olympics over the last several years have been more or less of a joke. It used to be that they were amature atheletes competing, now it is like a den of corruption and dirty tricks. This is probably why it is now the least watched event on TV. Everyone I have talked to has the attitude " Who cares"
