Today in Torino

Speaking of Chad Hedrick... I was out roaming the city and buying up all the chocolate supplies when I stumbled onto the Today show in progress as I was walking back to my hotel. 'Today' films in Piazza San Carlo, about four blocks from my hotel.

As I approached, I heard them announcing that Chad was there for an interview so I just randomly walked up towards the barrier and suddenly realized that he was a couple feet in front of me, shaking hands and posing for photos with the crowd. I had to dig around in my backpack to find my camera and managed to snap a few shots before he was summoned back to the set for makeup.

Naturally the whole interview was about Chad's feud with Shani Davis and yesterday's press conference where they traded sharp comments after their silver and bronze medal performances in the 1500m (see below for more!). Yes, the press is just blowing it up into something huge, but these guys are doing nothing to calm things down. When Matt Lauer asked Chad why he refused to congratulate Shani on his 1000m gold medal, Chad talked about how Shani betrayed him.

Dude, just be the bigger man and say, 'I did the wrong thing in the heat of the moment, I'm sorry.' As for Shani, he was invited to come on the show today as well but declined. Man, these two are cattier than girls!

And I think the Sports Bloggers Live guys are gonna kill me when they find out I was thereand didn't hold up an SBL logo for the Today show cameras!

we are all sick and tired of hearing about that shani davis, and chad crap!  i was so discussed that shani said on the today show how  there suppose to be  so professional and kids look up to them. what a baby he was . he got the medal and was pissed. i'm glad the reporter that interviewed him asked him if he seem mad.he said no ya rite!...at least chad leaned over and shook his hand..i was so disapointed that he for the usa... i think he need to apolize to the americans for his actions.i'd be mad too if you plan to be in a race and then back out of it....i'm a very devoted fan i watch it everyday and nite it was on. and for the newspaper in chicago, that said because he was black he didnt get the attention like the others. IM SO SICK OF THE RACIAL COMMENTS ABOUT IT.!!!!!!!!!!!  who would want to write about shani davis when he acts like that....oh! by the way i was rooting for him tell he got that attitude of being a poor sportsmen ship.............wendy larson

I am glad to hear you are buying chocolate.  Remember I was first in line to place my order in the other blog :)  No pressure.  Just puppy eyes.

Enjoying your blog!  Not enjoying the Chad/Shani thing.  Both should be celebrated for their incredible accomplishments, outskating Europeans on their turf.  Instead we are subject to all this blown up drama.

My comment has to do with these what I call FAKE Americans they come here and have been here for years making millons of dollars a year for playing hockey and what ever other sports that some of them play and get payed in some times you even see them on talk shows speaking of how great it is to be here and living the great American way of life, But when the Olympics come along and they have a chance to show that pride they speak so highly of what do they do , They backstab us and play for another country that they left because the way of life there could not compare to the life they have here, and this occurs in all kinds of sports ,I just want to know why we put up with this and allow them to do it, they live here some have wives and children here and yet they put the pride in a place they probably havent seen in many years and yet these countries allow them to come back and play for them even after they turn thier backs on thier original country. can someone please just answer me thatto me they (the atheletes) are playing a game of turning your back on someone and that someone is usually the USA.

You are forgiven for NOT holding up the proud colors of SBL, but don't let it happen again!
