Feeling Happy
Hearing Your Beautiful by James Blunt

I have you all to thank!

I had some very bad back issues over Christmas. Come to find out, after an MRI that I have TWO herniated discs and one Vaccuum disc, meaning it isnt there. Yrs of riding horses and paramedic work have fried my spine.

Altho I will never be able to play the piano again (note-I couldnt do it before) It is ironclad from my Doc that I not do Paramedic work again. On the truck. Er would be ok. I made up my mind to take a break after my knee surgery but that was my choice. To be told you CANNOT do something is entirely different.

I am working with a doctor, who also does acupuncture and I am hoping to avert surgery.

I WILL ride again. To me, that aint living.

He was suprised I can even walk but attributed that to my eating healthy organic stuff, which means I have clean blood to repair the body as  I sleep at nite. Remember kiddies, Organic will help with any pain issues you have. My doc was amazed I can walk upright!

Also? An affiliate of the Cleveland plain dealer read my blog and how I spoke so highly of Dave, my life, etc that they are doing a story and photo shoot of us for Valentines day!! This is soo cool! We are gonna have them take the pics at our trainer, as Stitch is completing Therapy dog training and is a hobby that we wanted to do together! Who knows, with my back, I MAY need her!

Will paste the link when it prints!

Feeling Chillin'
Hearing Charlie Brown xmas music

Jingle Bulls, Jingle Bulls!!! (yes, I meant bulls!)

Hey there! Long time no see. We moved into Dave's moms house and have had a few bites on our other home. I dont know how we made it in the other house, this place is so big and nice. I love it.

Work has been the same ol, same ol. I dont really have any memorable stories.

Above you will see pics of Lilo and Stitch, they are inseparable. Lilo is 20# already, and Stitch is 30. No doubt in my mind she is a mini.

We are getting invisible fencing this week, so we can let em out to play.

Oh, the pic of the weird haircut? That is my brother, *Slug* aka, Doug. Yes, he did that on purpose. I tried talking to him and kept busting out laughing till he put his hat on...couldnt take him serious. He was ticked about a spot on his neck that was missed! (like that haircut is perfection, right??) He was gonna go to the mall and "trendset"

My kids, naturally, love him. He lights farts for them all the time too. If you ever come to my house, be prepared to hear "Hurry up! I cant hold it much longer" as he waits for all to gather round for the lighting.

I always crack up. Dave thinks I am weird, and my parents refuse to make baked beans anymore. So he loads up on cracklin oat bran for the holiday festivities.

Anyways, I am alive, but busy. Will make notes and put an entry out soon!

Happy holidays from Lilo and Stitch!

Hearing news

Chain letters, puppy breath and a call or two

Man, I have been busy. Too busy.

Still trying to sell the house, got the puppy, as noted above, and I think I am coming down with the flu. Wonderful. Anyways, Lilo is trying to nurse on Stitch. Stitch also tolerates a crapload of abuse and puppy teeth and has little cuts all over her cheek. God bless her, she is such a good dog.

Till it comes to toys, anyways.

I want you all to look at this website. Embrace it, love it, USE it.

http://www.snopes.com/

On said page, you will see a search bar. The next time you all get a forwarded email that you have to scroll down 5 min to get to the message because it has been around the world  7 times, type in some of the topic in that little search engine and hit enter.

OOOOO!! I bet that email is on there! there will be links to the URBAN legends that are haunting the inboxes.

Then, after you read it and find out its fake, you can delete it and discontinue the chain of misery.

I have such a pet peeve about forwards like that. Lately, I have been the inbox police, sending a note back to senders that its fake and giving the snopes link. I guess I am not a fun friend.

But look, the gas out isnt gonna work, Denzel did NOT whip out his checkbook at a VA memorial site, Penny Brown has NOT been missing for 10 yrs,  Bill Gates is NOT giving money away, George Carlin did NOT write the hurricane rules, your cell phone number is NOT gonna be given to telemarketers,  Mules dont KILL mountain lions, (the hunter killed it first, kids), and robbers are not rendering women unconcious with perfume bottles laced with ether in parking lots.

Knowledge is power kids. Learn to love snopes!

Got a 911 call yesterday from a woman who said her daughter lived in Elyria. (found out later, she lived in the twp)

But, she got worried as she had not been seen since saturday (she was 37) and no one was answering her door. Mom said she had gotten in an arguement with her bf. Hmmmm.

Find out later, a coworker of mine said the had a DOA. Hanging.

It was her. (I asked cause the age and circumstances fit with the caller I had)

But, the thing that got me was.....

1. women generally dont hang themselves

2. she did it RIGHT, most suffocate to death because the drop isnt long enough and it doesnt break the neck...hers was broken.

3. chair wasnt knocked over.

4. hands were tied BEHIND her back.

Uh.....

Now my coworker had seen some who have tied their hands to prevent them from undoing the noose if they started to chicken out and if the fall didnt break their neck, but how do you tied your hands BEHIND your back!?!??!!

She did leave a note, but I am not cool with that either. She coulda been forced to write it.

Something smells fishy to me.

Feeling Chillin'
Hearing Vh1 jump start

I know, I know

Gosh, it's been a month since I posted. For that I am sorry. I cant say I have gotten many memorable calls lately, and actually I have taken alot of time off work, to be with Dave, to help with his mom's house and to get ours ready as well.

Oh, that picture? Its Lilo. Our brand spankin new bull terrier. I made her a dogster page, so be sure to go to links, and check it out and leave her a bone! Stitch is a pet quality bullie as far as conformation goes. If we were breeding for temperment, she would be the best out there. But, you need a mixture of both for the betterment of the breed and we decided to spay her. I am certain that Stitch came from a puppy mill. We love her dearly anyways, as she was our first bully.

Anyways, we get Lilo Oct 22nd.

No more sleep, and plenty of puncture holes in our hands for the next few months. Altho, out of her whole litter, she is the gentlest when it comes to biting. In fact, she is the most cuddly of all of them. She just wants to be with  you, not into whatever else is out there to get into. Lilo will be our breeding bully.

Dave is doing well since his mom passed. Her church had a mass for her this sunday and it was the first time we went to church since she died. It was emotional for Dave at first.

Then, near the end, they passed out the financial reports for the church for us to go over with the priest.

Well, Dave was a bit *gassy*. And he let one rip when there was a pause in the review and it resonated on the hard wood pew and echoed in the church.

Well, when you are in a place where you are not supposed to laugh, I have to laugh!

I started cracking up, big time. I TRIED to hold it in. I had a minute or two where I could stop, then I would think about it and start all over again.

I grabbed a kleenex as my mascara started to run. My body was shuddering, I looked like I was CRYING over the reports! Dave then turned his back on me, like he didnt wanna be seen with me! I, in between giggles, said he had alot of nerve, since he started it! (my older son, who I told this to later, said he woulda put his finger over my head and pointed down to ME,shifting blame. Yeah, he woulda)

We then went to the wooly bear festival. Dave did a Karate demo, supposed to be a fake fight. Well, him and his buddy decided to make it look good.

Dave mouthed.."HIT ME!" and Nate obliged and left a nice 4 ince abrasion across his forehead. Dave nailed him in the ribs and Nate swung back with a nice roundhouse that ended up knocking Dave off balance in the uneven terrain (the fought in the grass) and he sprained his ankle.

(he has sprained it 3 times in the last two yrs) Picture included PRE injury. He is the one with the mouth guard.

Went to Er, got a brace and he went to Ortho yesterday. (at least he goes and gets stuff checked out better than he used to before he met me)

So, he's in a brace and has exercises to do, and will get evaluated later to see if he needs some kinda surgery.

We have already figured out his moms house's layout. We have an extra room, and it will be the dogs room. Hey, they are our kids!!! And YES my kids have their own rooms too!!!

I got alot of bull terrier pics, one, off ebay, which came out of a WWII magazine, of General Pattons bull terrier, who laid waiting by his army gear, waiting for his return. (This pic was taken after Patton died in a car accident, and his faithful bullie was waiting for him) Its pretty sad. Link wouldnt load...sigh.

My older son came up, who left me around 14 yrs of age to live with his dad, because my current ex was abusive to him. We have gotten alot closer.

Anyways, he went to woolybear with us, and came over for a while. When he left, he gave me a big bear hug and said, "I love you mom!" which gets me misty still. All my other kids and I always tell each other that, but it was a first from him.

I cherish that, as he signed up for the Navy and can leave at any time.

Anyways, I will keep track of some calls and update this week!!

Feeling Frustrated
Hearing none

Sorry, I hear I was missed!

Sorry, I have been gone so long.

Dave's mom's funeral went off without a hitch. Ex was a jerk and had to run it by kids, to which they DID wanna be there, which probably shocked him. Ashley took it very hard.

We are in the process of selling our house to buy hers. Its one street over and has more things we dont. Like central air, two car garage, den, basement....etc etc....

Ex also got banned from the fair. Yeah, a police officer at that! He missed a meeting in which the state requires my son have to take his steer to the fair. He blamed his missing the meeting on a standoff the end of May, in which the Sheriff (NOT his dept) was took control of. This meeting was a week AFTER the standoff.

He had his usual inflated sense of entitlement and importance and told the fair board off, as our son, could NOT take his steer to the fair. Which my son had told me he could not show or sell it,but dad said I could still take it. (which, doesnt happen if ya dont have the state quality assurance test done....soooooo)

The sheriff banned him from the fairgrounds that week. He was on the sheriffs list to NOT come to the fair. He still did go, tho, I found out....(see *inflated sense of entitlement and importance)

Yeah, the kids definately went with the better parent! Go Ohio courts!!!!

Did he ask ME to take him to the meeting? (after all, I schedualed all the basketball, band, etc etc for the kids when I was with him, PLUS rearranged my work hours to get out EARLY to get them to school and see the games)

No, he didnt ask. In fact, I wasnt ALLOWED to take them on Thurs nites, as that was meeting nite. God forbid they would show up with their mom, huh? Looks like dad missed a few too, however.

Anyways, I will try to keep track of more calls, I gotta go to court on one, where I heard the guy whisper to his gf to NOT TELL. (he stabbed her) She almost died.

here are a few real calls for you all to hear, not from my dept, but I have heard these all just the same!!

We got another bullie, too.....Lilo! (lilo and stitch) will post pics soon. She is brindle and white!

Feeling Sad
Hearing Holes in the floor of heaven (cd I made for funeral)

Dave's Mom Passed

Dave's mom has been very ill. Lung cancer. And even tho she had a sense of humor about leaving, that her work was done, that she was tired, that she wanted to be with her husband, and that she wanted a going away party and wanted to be buried with her rolling pin and her hair net, after making piergoies, her being ready didnt really make it easier for any of us.

I had my kids on Monday and I was going to take them to the zoo. So glad that someone needed me to watch mom, as I took the kids there and that was the last time she got to see them. She loved my kids as they were her own, and for that I am grateful. My ex's mom was not the same way to my kids.

We spent the last nite, she spent in her house with her, Tues nite.

Dave took yesterday off and I am so glad he did, as he got more time with her.

I went with him before I went to work, and I wanted to call off really bad, but I didnt. She was asking about me the night before last, when I was at work. So I leaned in and said. "hey young lady, I hear you were asking about me" and then she took her finger and beeped my nose and smiled.

I lost it at that point. A family friend came in and said a Virgin Mary Novena, basically telling her when She comes, to fly to Her.

Again, many tears.

I got the call from Dave that she passed at around 755pm. She signed hospice papers a mere 2 hrs before and was waiting for a bed there. She was very independent and did NOT want her financial affairs gone thru, as hospice was saying they had to do for her admission. She flat out said they werent gonna do it!!

Well, she got her wish!!!!!!!!!!!! She always was stubborn!

My sister in law was with her, no real family. I believe she didnt want her kids with her. I feared she was going to be alone when it happened, but my SIL was there.

She was praying really hard, asking for the Lord to take her. My SIL was praying with her too. She took a couple deep breaths and was gone.

Alert till the end, and no pain.

I called my supervisor and she came in for me so I could leave to be with Dave. With my days off, I dont go back till Friday.

Hospice chaplain was there, and we sat there with her body and prayed.

We all went to her house afterwards and cleaned it up a bit, as the brothers and sisters will be reading her letter to them upon her death on arrangements and what she wanted.

I know she is up there polka-ing with her husband now.

Just wanted to let you know. Hope the ex isnt a jerk about letting the kids come for the funeral.

Feeling Chillin'
Hearing fox 8, of course

Getting too old for this *&^%!!

Friends of ours are Tesla freaks.  These are the guys who toured with Def Leppard 20 some yrs ago.

http://www.teslatheband.com/Default.aspx

I didnt know my husband had "always wanted to see them". So when they were coming to the House of Blues this past Saturday, he wanted to go.

I tried to listen to all the cds to bring myself up to speed on the music and I couldnt get into it. I had feelings this was gonna be boring!

I work afternoons, usually, but traded my shift with a coworker, to work a day shift, to open my evening. SOOOO.....that means, I got up at 4 am.

Got home, and tried to nap, but just couldnt.

We met our friends and off we went. We got floor seats, which means, ya stand. We got their super early and waited in line to get in, for an hr.

Then we got to wait another hr. Then the opening band played.

My back was killing me, so I was content to sit up on a stool by the bar and let my husband and our friends go to the floor. But, I figured ya only live once. So after 2 captain and cokes , some nachos with jalepenos, and potato skins I was off to the floor.

House of Blues floor is the closest I have EVER gotten to the stage. I once paid 110 for floor seats for my fav band, Matchbox 20 a few yrs back and they gave us chairs. I was close, but not THIS close.

As the night wore on, it was a little TOO close.

Band opened up. I could see the singers PORES. COOL!

I was close enough to notice that after one of the guitar players tossed his wild 80s hair back he was wearing EARPLUGS.  uh oh.

K, so our friends are in front of us. Dave is to my right. A drunk guy next to me is playing air guitar and trying to chat me up. Small talk about how great the band is. He didnt know I was the only person there who didnt know squat about Tesla! I tried to ignore him.

Didnt work.

Then, Mr Air guitars friend came over and tripped on the way, spilling a nice cold beer down the back of my leg. Ahhhhh refreshing!

Dave saw what was going on, and switched sides with me. Remember that he is a blackbelt in 4 different disciplines.

Mr Air guitar started chatting him up. Dave tolerated it for a while, but then he wanted to to up to the bar for a bit cause they were bumping into him, and it was realllly getting on his nerves.

Then, our friends in front of us, stated their was gonna be a fight in front of them later.

Noted.

The blonde chick that was in front of our friends, was jumping up and down, acting like an idiot, and my gfs husband couldnt see, so she politely asked her to keep it to a minimum so they could see. Drunk chick took offense to this, looked snotty to us, then feighned a HURT look to her gf who hugged her in sympathy and shot us dirty looks for actually THINKING we could actually watch the concert WE paid 70 bucks for !!!!!!!!!!

She quit bouncing around for the most part, but then started up. I was ready to roll back up, remembering some of my brief Karate training.

"alrays Rook EYE!!!!!!!" Miagi - Karate kid

Punch with your knuckles.

Never been in a fight before, but I was ready!

Well, the fight that was gonna break out, BROKE out, as the prophecy had been told.

All of a sudden, fists were flying and they were coming towards US!

We were packed in there, like sardines, So, I really didnt have anywhere to go! Luckily, after a few swings, they went the OTHER way.

Apparently, a girl put a CIGARETTE out in a guys face. OW!!!

But, "no means NO!!! buddy!"

My hearing was declining at a fast rate.

We went up to the bar after that and finished the show. On the way out, this nice looking guy, salt and pepper hair stopped Dave and I thought he knew him, so I shook his hand.

Dave told me he stopped him to tell him he had a beautiful woman ! ME!!

I wasnt wearing slutty attire as most Tesla concert goers were, just an indians jersey, Jeans and tennies. Dunno what stood out, but it was unexpected and nice.

Oh, the bathroom was the coooooolest I have ever, EVER seen.

Their was this voodoo priestest looking gal in there lighting incense. She had cigarrettes, condoms, gun, cheetos (yeah, I know, in the bathroom??) and feminineprotection. She hands YOU a towel when you get out of the toilet and wash your hands. She operates on tips only. It was neat. I thought they only did that in mens bathrooms!!!!!!!!!

I gave her a 2 dollar tip for getting my paper towel for me and I passed on the cheetos.

I mean, what was I gonna tell Dave?

"You want some Cheetos? I gotta go to the bathroom , so I can Kill two birds with one stone!"

Food does not belong in the bathroom.

My hearing took 2 days to return. It was muffled Monday, like I has water in my ears and I had an earache.

On the 911 front, the only memorable call I got was from a lady in tears that 3 pit bulls attacked and killed her dog. She was in tears. I felt horrible!

When connected with police, I dont think they heard her say PIT BULLS attacked her dog CAUSE they asked her...

"what kind of weapons did they have!??!?"

er....

They lack opposable thumbs!

Their aint nothing worse than a rovin' pack of pit bulls with weapons, I tell ya.

Hearing Fox 8 news

God's Promise

"And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth. And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud: And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth" (Genesis 9:11-17).

Well, God didnt say anything about the city of Lorain.

1400 7-15-05

I kiss Dave goodbye and head off to work. Looks like it will be a normal day. We have had threat of rain and we havent gotten any ANY time they predicted.

First problem we had? was a malfunction in the software in our computers that communicated to our trunks (incoming phone lines) Dont ask me too much about that, cause I aint that technical.

Anyhoo, at around 1500, one hr into the the shift, Hell started.

Hang up calls. Alot of them to be exact. Like, 138 in 45 min for ONE operator. (and we have 3 on duty)

A call would ring in, we would answer it and it would be gone. It was constant and if we got a REAL call inbetween all that, the hang ups would stack up, giving off an alarm that we had emergency calls waiting to ring in. Problem is, we dont know what is real and what are the hang ups.

We paged the supervisor. Luckily, it was eerily quiet at that time, so it was just hang ups for the most part we were answering. But as soon as you hung up, you had another, so there was NO break.

I did not even know it was raining in Lorain, (where I live). Then I got this call...

"I am on 28th and Clinton, and the water on the road is up to my door handles, and still rising"

I asked her if she could get out of the car, to which she said she was out already. But she did add this...

"My car is floating away"

Uh oh. But, still, it is across town from were I live, so I wasnt worried about my domain at that time.

Well, then the calls started pouring in. Supervisor started taking calls too. Our director came in and helped too, and ordered us a few pizza's as we couldnt even get up to pee, let alone try and make our dinners.

I got calls that were closer to my home. One lady said the water was up to her windshield. (remember her) PD said they would get someone out as soon as they could.

I then tried to call my husband and tell him NOT to go out. He would go out and check things out, I know him too well. Even if he didnt, I knew he may have to go somewhere anyways. He said he wouldnt. He also said our basement was totally dry.

We giggled for a moment, as we bought a house that sits on the corner on a slight hill. All the water is running DOWN.

I had some temporary peace that all things were well at home.

Then, I got a call for a car trapped under a bridge. This bridge is known for some pretty bad accidents, sits on a low spot and once you go in, you cannot see out right away. It is not like a regular underpass where when coming upon it, you can see the other side.

Cell call, man frantic "you gotta get down here, there is a couple of people trapped in this car under 21st street underpass, they are gonna DIE if you dont get here quick"

I transferred right to fire dept. They stated they were on their way, then transferred him to the police dept, of which they told him that an officer was already on scene. (Kurt got the call a few min prior....we were so busy, I didnt have time to find out who had the same calls I did)

We paged Tom Kelly at EMA and told him.

We found out later, they didnt make it.

http://www.morningjournal.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=14873416&BRD=1699&PAG=461&dept_id=46371&rfi=6

In the meantime, we had alot of people calling that their basements were flooded and they needed help. Fire depts do not come and pump out your basements. Yet, all these extra calls just added to the madness.

The lady whos car had water up to her windshield, called back, PISSED that NO ONE was there yet. I transferred her to the police dept, who said they had alot of other emergencies, were tryingto SAVE peoples livesafter the woman had the NERVE to say she had NO idea what was taking them so long!!!!!!!!!!!Police said they cannot drive INTO the water to get her, it was too high. GEEZ, what do people want???

Pd is like WHY did you try and drive thru the water anyways?

She still didnt get it, and was bitching that she needed a tow truck. PD told her to call one.

Another guy called in the middle of all this, stating....

"My gf is getting sick from the smell of the flood"

Granted, the water was nasty. But come ON people! what a stupid reason to call and an inopertune time to do it!!!!!!!!!

Another call, which kind of broke up the seriousness. was a call from a passerby that a lady was trying to direct traffic around her street and people were not following her orders. So when they ignored her helpfulness, and drove thru the water, she was flipping them off.

Another woman called stated she has smelled natural gas in her house for 1.5 hrs. Uh...ok. Wonder why she didnt go for 2?

She asked the fire dept if there was anything she should not do and that included if she should NOT light a cigarrette!???!??! Good Lord.

flame+gas= fire. Duh.

Well, back to our basement. Dave heard the cats meowing frantically.

When he went downstairs, he saw the drain with a fountain of brown water shooting out 5 inches. Our basement is 1000 sq feet. We had about 4 inches of water thru it.  He ran out , bought a shop vac and tried to keep up, and our sump pumps were doing what they could, but it was just time that we needed.

I felt bad, as I knew he was going thru all this alone, and I was not able to help him.

As I close here, I sat and pondered this call. I was really sad about it yesterday.

CISD (critical incident stress debriefing) was called upon for the divers and crews who tried to rescue the couple. Altho, we are not directly in contact with the victims, it did upset me. Why, I dont know. Most stuff, I can just let roll off my back, we have to, or this stuff eats at you.

Perhaps it was the call itself. That people were dying as I got the call.

Perhaps it was the freak-ishness of the call. In the middle of a city no one thinks they are gonna drown when they get up in the morning.

But, perhaps the thing that bothered me most, was the most horrific way this took place. The water was dirty and filled with silt, insects and debris. They had a car with power windows. It is my understanding that once the battery goes you cannot roll down windows. The power of the water against the door would make it impossible to open the door.

A couple who shared their whole life together, died together. I cannot begin to imagine the horror of the rising water and the fear they faced.

When they got the ID's on them, they had to break into their house (pd) to get some sort of next of kin information . They had a daughter in Colorado.

They called her, and she did not believe it. She kept repeating "who are you, and why are you doing this to me?"

Say a prayer tonight for that couple, if you will. And for their family.

Always hold YOUR loved ones tight.

How many times have we walked out of the door in anger or because we were short on time and not let those know who are close to us, that we love them? I am not saying this couple didnt. We just dont know when our time is up.

I am just as guilty of it. We have all snapped at our family and friends and left for work, store, etc.

I am sure the woman in Colorado is thinking of the last time she talked to or saw her parents. That would be the memory one would hold on to. What your mind searches for. What WAS that last visit like?

We have to make them count. Life is too short.

Feeling Quiet
Hearing Fox 8 news

Never say Never

My day is always filled with domestics, medical emergencies, and of course, accidents. A few days ago was no different. We got a call for a two car MVA with injuries, with entrapment, and the fire dept summoned lifeflight.

Nearly 45 min later, I get a cell call. A mother said she saw lifeflight fly overhead and that her daughter had not come home from a softball game yet and was late.

I am thinking, "yeah, yeah, if I had a dime for everytime someone called cause someone was late and wanted to know if they were in an accident"

Hell, I have done it MYSELF when Dave ran late with no time to call.

So, I pass it off to police.

Police dept dispatcher had another phone on her other ear, but asked the woman her name, after she repeated to me, her situation with her daughter.

Police dispatcher said..."yeah, I got her on the other line" and the mom heard that.

Dispatcher came back and told her that her daughter was in an accident and that she was lifeflighted to metro.  The mother cried the tears and anguish that is so familiar to me and that one NEVER gets used to, even after almost 25 yrs in the business. I know the girl will be ok, its just a sound you never get used to.

Then, we had this yesterday http://www.morningjournal.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=14782828&BRD=1699&PAG=461&dept_id=46371&rfi=6

My coworker got the call, and we knew it wasnt good. We took it upon ourselves to inform the medic intercept from Mikes and Mine EMS co, that she was unresponsive, barely breathing, and going downhill fast.

Ems intercept has a thing for one lifeflight service, but the fire dept on scene has a passion for the other. Needless to say, there were two choppers circling over at the same time, and there was a bit of confusion with one landing zone, as to who was coming to land. The one that lost out, called up to 911 later to complain.

Who cares people? Instead of getting in a pissing contest, lets not forget the purpose of a call. To save a life! It never ceases to amaze me.

A little more info on that call. I email my husband Dave, at work, thru the workday. We work opposite shifts, so I get to talk a bit that way. I told him about the accident.

Well, his coworker got a call that his niece was in a Dune buggy accident.

Dave said, "You mean a go kart?"

He said "yes"

It was his niece.  That just drove it a little closer to home.

Meanwhile, news channels and newspapers were coming up for a copy of the call for the news. The accident happened at 1401 pm (2pm) and it made the 5 o clock news. My heart aches for a family that needs to grieve privately, and no matter where they go, the hospital, their home, there is a news van camped outside with a reporter in it.

On the lighter side? I had an elderly woman call 911 to see if I could dispatch an ambulance to her house because she made too many potato pancakes and she knew they would want them.

I said, "I cant do that"

She said she would drive them up there. We were hungry too. We wished she woulda drove em to us.

And last, I got one call of a man who just kept screaming "CHINESE! CHINESE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Now, I have "uno momento" down to a science, for anyone who asks for a spanish interpreter, but I have no idea how to tell this man to hang on, and I will get a translater. So, he hung up.

At first, I thought it was a prank. But he called back. And EVERY time he called back, poor kurt got him.
Again,  he kept saying..........

"Chinese, CHINESE"

My coworker said, say..."american, AMERICAN!!"

Apparently, they have 911 in china, cause he knew how to dial it.

But, Kurt eventally got him to hang on and wait for a translator. He said he was at a restaurant and I blurted out "hunan WOK" as its one of my favorites.

It WAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ah, my mental powers of ESP are finely honed. I must go get a lottery ticket tonight!

The man was working there and they refused to pay him and he had no way to get back to new york. Hmmmm, illegal immigrant, eh?

Well, thats it for today. Running off to get things in order for the weekend!

Be safe and have a great weekend!!

xoxo Donna
