Bucs Get Punked Again
Well, it was a hard fought game. As you know by now however, the Bucs lost by a FG … Again. At least this time it wasn’t a last second try. The Bucs had this game laid out for them .. and blew it. I knew it was a mistake not going for that long FG early on. Kudos to the Bucs D for not falling for that “dummy play” the Saints tried to pull at the end of the first half, as well as the trick lineup the Saints HC called. What was all that about?
It’s also too bad the Saints got help from the Zebras. Not much, but enough. Tell me HOW in HELL the officials get influenced by a HC to call a foul when there was none? AND, they call it what, 30 - 60 seconds after-the-fact?? The NFL really needs to put the screws on those guys a tad more. They are NOT the stars of the show … They need to stop acting like they think they are.
Gradkowski is Da Man — Despite the loss, I was VERY impressed with his game play. A couple of rookie mistakes, but he played a great, virtually mistake free game! He’s going to be another great QB in the NFL. Caddy even looked like he might finally be getting back to last year’s form.
Games like this one make me wonder tho, “is Gruden is trying to match the Bucs inaugural season?”
I wrote an article a couple of years back on Gruden and his “seemingly lack” of coaching skills. Maybe there’s more going on here then meets the eye?

Regarding the inaugural season...I attended 10 of our 0 and 26 start as a franchise. I'm guessing that, like me, you also have first hand knowledge of just how awful the Bucs were. The running joke then was about the season ticket holder who had more tix to a game than he could use. So he put the two extras under the wiper blade on his windshield hoping someone would see them and consider them a nice gift...only to return to his car after the game and find six tix under the wiper blade, two more for that game and two for the next one. My rule back in those days was to never pay more than $5 for a ticket...and I never had to break that rule.
Enough about Memory Lane. My point is that the inuagural Bucs were clueless and had minimal talent. The 2006 Bucs are supposed to be competitive. Since the Super Bowl victory the Bucs are best described as HAPLESS! I know that you know what I'm talking about. It's not one thing, it's MANY many things.
John Lynch...yeah, I guess he sucked. Brad Johnson...past his prime. Warren Sapp...high maintenance. Meshawn...too volatile. I can look at all of those decisions and take them in stride. But the on-field game day decisions are inexcusible.
And though I get as frustrated as anyone about the consistently inconsistent officiating in the NFL, as the best coach I ever had always said, "You have to play hard enought to beat the other team AND the Refs. If you don't, you lose."
