This is one of 3 granddaughter I have. I love all of them. But this little one is in constant danger due to an abusive father and the UCCJEA act that was adopted by all states . It allows the home state with the abuser to continue to control, harrass, and abuse his victims. Once a state assumes jurisdiction it keeps it at its whim. My daughter left the guy over a yr ago and came back home for protection for her child and herself. We thought WV could assume jurisdiction due to the abuse. but Va angrily called WV and demanded they drop their case which they did. She won sole legal and physical custody, but he still gets unsupervised visitations at our expense and not a dime of child support has eve been payed or ordered. We have since sought support thru WV. But since my daughter is in college she cant pay the $400 EOW it cost to bring the child the 10 hour round trip to Va with the father driving 15 minutes. He is also now taking us back to court for false contempt charges which we can prove, but we still have the expense. HE has commented on tape, he wished the child was never born, brags of a gun under his seat, threatened to cut me, and while talking to baby said someone was going to get shot. And much much more. Check out more of the story here:

My daughter and my grandbaby and our entire family have been involved over a custody dispute with an evil abusive guy in VA. My daughter saught protection here at home in WV, but with the UCCJEA it allowed Va to keep jurisdiction forever. AND allow the father to continue his harrassment and ABuse . We are forced to bring the child to him so he can continue to unleash his abuse and neglect and emotional torment on this scared baby. \Check out the story: http://dyingtoprotect.blogspot.com/

We just got our first snow last night. We got a total of about an inch then it turned to a freezing rain today. But my son about 45 min from me got about 3-5 inches of snow. I am not looking forward to this cold weather. I got all my plants brought in except the dahlias, and was waiting for a frost to get them. Guess I dont have to wait any longer to dig them. I brought my brugmansias in and traded for some more cuttings. Hopefully these will bloom earlier for me next yr.

This is a block for the Raggedy Ann and Andy baby quilt I am working on. There will be six face blocks in the quilt. I plan on making the borders out of multi colored blocks at this time, unless I change my mind by then.

I made this sling for my daughter. She is expecting her first the end of February. After doing a lot of research there seems to be a lot of benefits to "wearing" the baby. One sites states these statistics:

1. Babies that are carried, cry 43% less overall.

2. While carrying baby ,you can have hands free for chores.

3. You can even descretely nurse baby while shopping etc.,and no one will notice.

4. Baby is more content with surroundings it was familiar with for 9 months, such as the sound of your voice, breathing, warmth, and heartbeat.

When my kids were growing up, you had to be an octopus, trying to hang onto baby while answering the phone, shopping, and other chores. I can't wait to find out how she likes it.

Dr. Sears discusses benefits as well:

http://www.askdrsears.com/html/5/T051100.asp
