Feeling Quiet

long time no see

Hello all,

It has been some time since my last entry. I have not been in the best of moods and have just not wanted to be around anyone at all. I am a bit discouraged because I was turned down for some medication that I was prescribed, and then to make matters more frustrating I was turned down for Social Security as well. I am not one to like the Holiday season anymore. There are too many painful memories that come about this time of year.  I try my best to grin and bare it but with the signs of the Holidays all around me and the echo of Christmas music in my ears, it is quite hard.  I have been spending most of my time alone in my room watching the first couple seasons of M.A.S.H and trying to come up with new ways of ignoring the flashbacks of my past while everyone in the house is asleep. It is hard to be in a house filled with people and still feel so alone.  I know this entry is not one of my more bright ones, but right now, I myself am not very bright.

Enough about that stuff and on to more chipper things. A few days ago my mom and I went on a little adventure in search of the new Nintendo Wii gaming system. We began at the local Walmart at around 8:30 pm, and then widened our search expanding to the next closest Walmart and then on to Target and Best Buy, none of which had any.  At around 10:30pm we returned to the first Walmart where we were informed that a shipment of the little beauties where scheduled to arrive in the morning, and if we wanted one we were to wait in line. Already people were in line ahead of us, bundled up in blankets, scarves and hats. Some people had brought along there laptops, Ipods and other such entertaining devices in which to pass the time. My mom sent me home to gather supplies for the long night ahead while she stuck claim to our place in line.  I returned with a bag full of the necessities which included, A mini DVD Player all of the Harry Potter movies, the Pirates of the Carribian movies, Elf, some blankets and water.  I must say that we were the hit of the line. We hooked up some speakers to the DVD player and blasted the sounds of Pirates through out the parking lot. People began to gather all around us to watch the movie. At around 2:30am or so, two Walmart employees ventured out of the warm store to notify us that we were to receive numbered tickets at that moment, which we could later redeem for our Nintendo Wii at 8:00 am. We gladly took the tickets and returned home.

At 8am we stood in yet another line that had grew by twice its size from the previous night, the store having only 29 Gaming Systems, I knew that many people would be leaving empty handed. I laughed a little inside knowing that I had a ticket that guaranteed my mom and I one of these prized treasures.  You may be wondering what the point of this story is, well the Nintendo Wii is a gift for my Dad for Christmas, Funny the things people do for the ones they love.

That is all for now,

Peace,

Katie

You are so persistent!  We had the option of standing in line, too, but I am too much of a wuss, and besides, they are so expensive (not compared to the Sony, but still).  Good for you!  This is the first story I have heard that actually resulted in receiving a system.  All the others were sotries of braving the cold, only to find out there were a handful of systems available and hundreds of people waiting.  Sorry.  I would only stand in line for a guarantee...your Dad is so lucky to have you who would do so much for him!
Don't give up on the S.S. or the neds.  There is always the appeal process for both.  And I have seen it work.  Hope you're feeling better, soon!  Jae

I am too lame!  Sorry you are having such a hard time...  At least you will get some goodies out of it hehehe :)  Don't give up on getting your medication and SOcial Security... from what Dad said the old Doc royally screwed up and that isn't your fault Kate!
