Five Candles
The face that I had loved so well
lost in Nod's misty rivers
as I looked long by the railing
so utterly lost
in her
bowed serenely in larkish prayer.
The changeling was unaware
slipping through time's filmy chaplet
wreathed by fireflies and melody
she fell
into inevitable chrysalis.
Babyhood flickered
in that last exhale
Furled smoke emerged
ocean-eyed
flutterby.
I wept to wet her wings.

Music: clears cobwebs for new entry
Through hallowed halls
the girl's notebooks
crushed to her
chest in treasure,
that which harbors
all who dream
leaks lost sorrow
on polished floors
as children slip
in their wake
and still they
try not to
see her always
daring to touch
never grasping
a thing.

echo misty sepia dream
forgotten
shattered by her splinterscream
prelude to a desperate quiet
sibilant prayer searching
the warm cocoon
seeking
( mother )
absolution saltwomb tears
finding a
ranting
raving
demon
frozen in the calm
cryonic grip of Nothingness
( snowglobe world )
a distance from
living and
hurting and
loving it
is not real
it
seers and scars a silent heart
( branded they own you )
the lips dont mean what they say
words carried over clenched teeth
and no god has an answer
when darkness falls
smothering
masquerading as night
and one must be judged by self
and then its light again
the day you raged against
coming back
mocking
daring you to feel
donning a stone mask weapon
its not so hard
endless days
merging
beads of perspiration
drops of blood on metal
strings attached to hands and feet
that dance and clap on command
obscene marrionette smiles
on the table
a ransom for her sanity
laughing at the price
( whats that noise )
bound in chains
it makes one humble
fierce and still
like a winter night
oh gods, and all the anger
( means nothing )
beating her head against hypothetical walls
( means nothing )
but there is something
a whisperpulse
flashing light
and its gone
not what she thought
she remembered a time when
( she smiled
a violent brief explosion
of light)
and was sucked silent
( the bloodbone littered ruins of a battlefield
when the wargods sleep )
vacuous nothingspace
no time to feel
or breathe
or dance ....
and finally
flung
into a stormdream
how dare you
cyclone snake spirals from doomclouds
fed by memory
this hungry rage
strengthening twisting writhing
wanting to break skin
smooth muscle
sinking
sickening
every slash of lightning memory
brings back something
a foot to push her head down
( reeking wet leather )
a hand clenched
tightening
around her throat
constricting bitter liquid
growing in its poison
until the heart bursts
leaking acid tears
that burn a path of misery
to the cold stone at her feet

Rattling poison
the polished apostle
wrings honeycomb to
coat beggars in
first class rags.
Wrapping adulation over
played lies this
sycophant of sotted
temples offers smokey
mantras to crimson
altars in the
leggy synogogue.
Upturned palms tremble
cupped for alms he
tosses fool's gold
bearing Caesar's visage.
Idolizing Delilah
even as mascara seeps
from blind apologies
she tipples to
steel graceless hands
execrating alibis.
Scriptural sex slides
earthward, at the
belly of the pole she
smells Gehenna burning.
Images of neon
gods flash naked
complicated pornography
spewing baptism they
coax them arm in arm
to cruise cold Babylon.

How could I let myself be loosed
delirious with rumors of stars
I fly the soft night aching
invoking her cool flood
this sister of the ebon ocean
holding all there is.
Allowing the thin cries of gulls
to disturb the universe
day's genesis steals in
thieving obscurity
bleeding rays across eyes
that do not sleep.

Subject: Hollow Houses-revised Song of the Hollow House

Music: some of you have this already, wanted to add it to my journal
Song of The Hollow House
Shadow dreams and hollow houses
lay hushed in dusk, perfumed
Blackberry vines choke the porches
with lightless quietude
Resigned, in strangled surrender
the bramble holds me too
The bramble holds me too.
White milky breast has turned to dust
the suckling lips, gone pale
bleat a quivering lullaby
The barren cradle wails
Wrapped in wraithweb, the rocking chair
I cannot breech the veil
I cannot breech the veil.
Tired willows bow in sorrowsong
the path is overgrown
Ghostprints lost, grow indifferent moss
to suffocate the stone
Wild briars bridle ages cold
the ivy wraps my bones
The ivy wraps my bones.
Beetles heavy with bitter board
stand sentinel, until
bequeathed to worms, the ghosts are left
to linger on the hill
Withered hymn of hollow houses
soulsick lyric, be still
Be still
Be still
Be still.

Inhale
exhale
mocking time
smelling roses
that I despise
I watch the clock
and count the sighs
breathing death
I could not die
the sun is cold
and dreams unkind
bring signs and dread
I can't deny
I squint to see
through tainted eyes
seeing death
I could not die
I eat fresh graves
to sympathize
and choke on words
without goodbye
spit out the tears
they leave behind
tasting death
I could not die
I sleep black sleep
to tranquilize
pound my fists
and try to cry
your platitudes
they stick like knives
when I am dead
and cannot die
