Collections & Categories

Hey all,

Lately we've been using handy tools to find out some more about what you guys do and don't like to do here on our site (since most of you aren't commenting on our blog yet). One thing I was surprised to find is that you're not clicking on "By Collection". While we figure out why that is, I wanted to tell you why I think the page is so cool.

The Collections page gives you one-click access to tons of packages of videos that are more specific than the ever-popular Categories (Pets, Travel, and the rest). With one click, you can get to a bunch of car crashes, or bad dancing, or cute kids, or all Hillary Clinton's videos, or Mitt Romney's...it's a treasure trove, I tell you.

Let us know what else you'd like to see...we're listening.

    Betty,

Thanks for the comments! We'll definitely pass along your suggestions to our development team.

Also regarding your last point, when you are on the Category page...  you're right!  If you click on the thumbnail image, you are taken directly to the playback page for the latest video in that particular Category.  However if you click on the Title (the blue hyperlink next to the thumbnail image) you are taken to that Category browse page (which gives you a list of all the videos w/i that Category).  While on the browse page, you can also use the drop-down box for additional sort options (most recent, highest rated, most popular, & most comments).  Hope that help!

Hi uncutvideoblog!  UnCutVideo definitely rocks... for starters you have the fastest uploader/processor than any other video site.  The quality is great, fast page loads, easy navigation, etc.  And it's awesome that you use this blog to have a dialog with users about our opinions and what we'd like to see!

On the Collections page topic, I prefer browsing by Category.  There are a many collections to browse, but personally, I'm not searching for videos in the majority of the collections.  There are many collections labeled with a Country name; it seems like these videos could go in a subsection of the broader "By Location" section.  This might help bring better focus to the Collections page.

On the Categories page topic, please add a "Food & Drink" category.  It might not be a huge topic on UnCutVideo yet, but it will be!  Food channels/content were late to arrive on cable television, but they are all over cable now!  I think the same thing will happen in online video.  And video sites like UnCutVideo are giving producers an opportunity to experiment and innovate in a lot of genres, including Food & Drink, and it would be great to have a category where viewers could find the content easily.

It's cool that you have an H&G Category, but it's being hijacked by realtors :(  I doubt this is what UnCutVideo had in mind when the Category was launched.

Finally, one bit of general feedback which ties into the Collections topic:  When you click on a Collection or Category, it would be cool if you were taken to a page of thumbnails showing more of the content that is in that collection or category.  Then you could browse the thumbnails and click on the video that looks interesting.  Currently, you are immediately presented with a video and then you have to locate the small "View more videos" link on the bottom right side of the window to find more videos in that collect
