    Recommend getting a desktop tripod and USB Type A extended cable for the Flip Ultra Series.  You can shoot PC/Mac screen activity if graphic display setting is configured for non-interlaced/progressive/60Hz.  Make sure to get the Flip firmware update: http://support.theflip.com/fwupdate/camcorderupdate  

    The Ultra Series is recommended due to these features: tripod mount, higher video bitrate, improved dynamic range, exposure control & color fidelity, higher res LCD, improved microphone, and AOL Video Uploads integral support.  Also, the device records at 640x480, 30fps in Advanced Profile MPEG4 AVI format.

    I was able to upload an Adv Profile MPEG4 AVI file from the PC to the Flip as follows:

    Suppose your Flip has recorded, say, 5 video clips in its internal library and suppose you have a compatible Advanced Profile MPEG4 AVI video clip stored on your PC or Mac.

    To drag & drop that clip from the computer to the Flip, do these steps:

    Rename the clip as vid00006.avi (i.e. increment 1 up from last recorded Flip)
    Open the folder contents of the Flip and drag the clip from the computer to the following sub-subfolder:

    FLIPVIDEO (root)

    DCIM (subfolder)

    100VIDEO (sub-sub folder) <---drag vid00006.avi to this folder)

    When you start up your Flip you should now see the uploaded clip appended as last item in the Flip library.

    Why are videos removed without notification? Also, the video in question is a movie mix of the a snow even in Georgia. This morning it says the video has been removed and I cannot read the reason. I was not notified and there is no reason why this should have been removed.

    Please let me know, why this was done.

    There was no copyright violation, it was within the time limits and the music was Beethoven which is public domain. I took the pictures and the video. The movie mix is mine. What reason was there to remove it without any kind of notification?

    I'm glad you were able to use the camera to capture footage on your cruise!  I hope you had a great time.

    The great thing about the Flip, is that you don't need a separate USB cable. It has a USB connection built in.   All you have to so is use the lever on the side to "Flip Open" the USB arm... and you can plug that directly into your computer.

    I was one of the lucky winners of a Pure Digital Video Camera and I have a great video in it that I took on my Alaskan cruise in August.  BUT, I don't know how to get it out and downloaded into my computer.  No USB cord came with it and so far I've been unsuccessful trying to buy one.  Any suggestions?   Linda in Washington state http://journals.aol.com/lsfp1960/LindasWorld/
