Finally bothered to log in to the 10.5 test machine.
And I have hard time seeing which applications are open. The white dots are so much harder to see than the triangles of 10.4

The most stupid allergy warnings

I'm wondering what is the most stupid allergy warning that I've seen on any food product.
Perhaps on a salmon file pack "warning : contains fish" should be in the winner category. If I buy fresh salmon, I would sort of want that it contains salmon.
But why does the fresh, raw, packaged slices of salmon need to have "cannot guarantee nut free"? How about sticking that nut free label to this whole world - you know, this world is not nut free...
Then how about soy milk that has the allergy warning "contains : soy" .. doh, what did you expect the soy milk be made of?
Or orange or apple juices that say they are lactose free and gluten free... now why on earth would orange or apple juice have any lactose or gluten?
Along the lines with these allergy warning contents they occasionally add the suitable for vegetarian mentions. So why would the apple juice contain it? It should, right.. but why doesn't it contain the suitable for vegans label? If the only contents are apple juice ...

Are you sure want to ... ?

"Are you sure you want to cancel the current operation?" "OK" and "Cancel" are sucky choises for dialogue. Sure I want to cancel? Yes, CANCEL please.
So how about having just "yes" and "no"?

Some people should never be allowed in the server rooms

People who conserve energy switching off the fans in the server rooms and by turning off the UPS should not be allowed even at 10 miles radius from any server room. And they should not know the location of any server.

Don't talk about laxatives around anorexics, please

Quitting drinking and having a body detox is a good idea, but talking about detox and laxatives around people who are 5'9" and define 80 lb as their ideal weight is not a good idea.

Resizing my browser is rude

Resizing the browser windows is a very rude thing from the webpages, or rather from the webdesigners. Let me decide what sizes I want my windows. When you hijack all browser and make it be the size you want, I'm sorry but that is rude. The windows are on the size I need and want tehm to be, so don't try to wank htem to be 600 x 900 or full screen or whatever you consider pretty.
For some reason all clothing, cosmetic, and hairdo sites seem to resize the browsers. Which is why I can see them only in Forefox with everything disabled.
My browser window size is entirely my choise. Deal with it. To force one to view it on the 'pretty' size the designer likes it is like forcing your guests who are wearing Armani suits and other expensive office gear to be forced ot wear some dollar store 'designer' flipflop and beachwear. You as a designer think it's pretty and appropriate, but not the whole world shares your taste and preferences.

How are you?

The only correct answer to "how are you?" asked no matter if by your lover, employer, interviewer, or by the doctor at the ER, is still "I'm doing great, how are you?".

Smb error -36 is turning me nuts

And the only 2 solutions that work for this error -36 in smb : 1. connecting via terminal, and 2. using Fusion and connecting via it. Ubuntu guest mounts windows shares and servers correctly. And if I need to copy some to the mac via a GUI, then I also connect to server via ssh (host IP address) and jsut copy over. It's faster than copying via explorer or Finder but still, not a proper solution...

Smb error -36 is turning me nuts #2

At least I'm not the only one with Finder error -36 with smb http://forums.macosxhints.com/archive/index.php/t%20%3C/t-40071.html
smbclient //server/drive -W workgroup -U username works though, despite Finder giving errors. So it is a Finder error .. http://www.macwindows.com/tiger.html
