The Real World

"Close range shot, maybe 15 feet. Bullet entered the right side of the target and skipped between the ribs but tore through the left side of the target taking a piece of one of the ribs with it. Very nasty. Target was a lean male approximately 5'6" tall and approximately 130 pounds."

Some Answers

I was referred to as "Gunny" for so long that it became more than a nickname even when I no longer was of that rank. In the Marine Corps, an E-8 Master Sergeant is called "Top", but I never did like Top very much. None of my blog efforts feature such appellations as I never wished to be pigeon-holed into one format or another, but do agree that the testosterone DOES overwhelm the more timid readers and make attempts at toning down the manliness.

Yes, I was lucky enough to shoot most of the worlds automatic weapons, and like my mankillers simple. If one is genetically predisposed to enjoy handling an M-60 machinegun then there's no reason to switch to anything else. The combination of range, accuracy, and lethality is quite suitable for ending disagreements in a most pleasing way.

The longest iron-sight, hard solution, shot I ever took was from a distance of 534 yards. From a wonderfully accurate M-14. Fortune favored me that day, and one was enough.

I am staunchly conservative in most things, and remain a fan of George W. Bush. I do not believe that the world was created in 6 days some 4500 years ago, nor am I a regular church-goer. I'm simply not bright enough to be an aetheist, and probably do hope-for more than believe-in the existance of a deity.

I am against any form of abortion that is done for the sake of expediency.

I love my wife, have never, nor will ever stray.

I am one of the best cooks I've ever met but don't talk about it. Actions do speak louder than words.

I can shoot pistol, revolver, and rifle well enough to be called a good shot.

I simply love growing things, plants and vegetables, but am not a flower-person.

I've written professionally and made decent money at it.

I've had jobs outside the military that were more dangerous than the ones IN the military, but don't run nearly as fast as I used to, so basking in the Florida sunshine agrees with me more and more.

If there's a well-known country I have never been to, I am unaware of this.

My best bench-press was 426 lbs. Was shooting for 420 but didn't include the weight of two of the collars, hence the strange total. This is not a great deal of weight for someone who at the time weighed 270 or thereabouts. I am all fast-twitch muscle and CAN run 20 miles, but hate doing so.

I'll probably add more to this list when the inquiries warrant it.

Overflow

I quit blogging on AOL months ago, but find the need for a spillover from my Blogger account, and a place to send adults to when the topic calls for it.
