Always know the status of your contacts...
Whenever you read an email, have you ever noticed the yellow “AOL Running Man” icon next to an email address? Not only is it cute, but it actually lets you know whether that person is online, idle, or on a mobile device. Note: They must be logged into AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) in order to receive an IM.
The Running Man icon has 2 states:
- Yellow = logged in and can receive IMs
- Grayed-out = not logged in, so can’t receive IMs
Note: If there is no running man icon, then the user does not have IM.
There is also a mobile phone icon, which means they are logged in and can receive IMs on a mobile device.
Why is this useful? Well, if you want to respond, sure you can reply via email. But if you want that person to get an immediate response or you want to chat interactively, then click the icon to start an IM session with that person.
One of the best parts about this feature is that you don’t even have to have an IM program
installed on your computer to take advantage of this. The Web Suite will automatically launch AIM Express, a browser-based version of the AIM
It’s perfect for when you’re traveling or not using your primary
computer. You can choose in the Setting
page to always use AIM Express or always use the AIM program you have
installed.
Check it out and let me know what you think!
‘Til next time…

I am interested in printing labels also. i would like to use my aol address book to manage all my contact info but I will have to opt for MSN.

Hi peastmond,
Honestly, I doubt printing labels directly from the Web Suite will be a feature that'll get added. Why? Because there isn't a strong-enough demand for it. Sorry for the bad news but I wouldn't want to mislead you.
Here's what you will be able to do in the future though. I think the design team is considering adding an Address Export feature in the future. When that becomes possible, you'll be able to export your addresses to a file, then import that file into a program like Word, which is better designed for printing labels.
I hope knowing the above answer helps you at least and thanks for asking.

Maybe I just haven't realized how to do it, but it would be neat if you could have the option to make and print labels from your AOL contacts/address book. Is this possible, or will it be an option in the future?
