Hundreds of issues fixed with last night's update

In the past 16 days since the last beta refresh (Cayman has been updated very rapidly compared to the market), the Mail team has closed around 200 bugs!  Some people may be thinking, wow, that seems like Cayman is "buggy" but actually, it's not.  In the web service industry, all products have lots of "bugs" and the majority are rarely encountered by mainstream users.  The fix-rate has been more than 12 fixes per calendar day, which is a very fast pace--we have a very high performance team.  I'm sharing this info with you so that you know how important your feedback is to us, and so that you can see how quickly we're addressing them.

Thank you all for reporting issues to us so that we can address them.  We do tons of testing before releasing a product as beta, but there's nothing like real-world use.  Congrats to everyone involved in identifying the bugs (all internal/external users), everyone who verifies/duplicates/documents/tests them, everyone who fixes bugs, and everyone else who assists in the constant process of resolving issues.  The latest beta update that was released last night contained many non-visible but important fixes that makes the Web Suite more rock-solid, along with a few visible changes such as:

* Keep as New function is now a button
* Importing Contacts is working better now
* Checking the status of an email you sent is much easier now

More details about this newest release can be found on our Beta site

Also, we've been very busy working on something that many of you have been asking for.  You spoke, we listened, and we're actively putting things into place that'll offer higher email performance for those of you that have slower Internet connections (dial-up)and older systems/browsers.  Curious what that'll be?  More details on that later but what I've seen looks very good and is something that I know many of you will enjoy.

Lastly, would you beinterested in the ability to see your Inbox from the AOL.com page?  The AOL.com team has their own new beta page that has this cool "Mail Preview" feature.  You can check it out here.    I suggest looking at their Tour first for a quick overview.

Enjoy the new Cayman beta as well as the new AOL.com beta!

'Til next time,
Tae

Let me help you understand.  I'm an old Netscape Mail guy who got forced to AIM Mail.  I had NO PROBLEMS for 8 years with Netscape.  AIM Mail is THE MOST UNSTABLE mail platform in the Universe !  email is not new ! I have accounts on other platforms that are stable, so don't kid yourself, Yours IS NOT GOOD !
You are forcing me to go use Gmail !

    More constructively:

Mail Unavailable try again latter !
Delay Delivery of sent mail !
    Sending Mail has slowed considerably
Retrieving a  message has slowed considerably
Your mail server won't respond !
Right now it won't let me back in to my Inbox unless I sign out and sign back in !

I use email a lot for my business and AIM Mail is becoming an embarrassment !

Sirs, After 7 years of being a paying AOL subscriber I am searching for a new ISP. Perhaps you have some suggestions on who I should switch to? Since 05-24-07 , the inability to write, reply or as of most recently even access my emails 1/2 the time is beyond poor performance. While I have been to tech support (17) times and contacted the AOL.dev group (3) times nothing has worked or been done to fix the problem. It has been reported that this is a known problem on the AOL mail server. It is becoming clear that after (9) weeks your organization can not fix the problem. I am told that I should cancel my subscription and get free email. However, I pay a yearly lump sum payment and would only be throwing money away and confusing 7 years of contacts. You will soon find out based on the loss of customers how serious this situation is. As always, I expect you to delete this posting , as you have done 2 times before. You will delete this posting not because of rudeness or profanity, but because it tells the truth. And some time the truth hurts more that cruel comments. Deleting this message is like sticking your head in the sand to hide from the what is to come in the near future, lost business. Respectfully: " Smile :)" Billybearm

I was a huge fan of another world and soapnet cancelled it.  I am really enjoying the old shows you have.  I still want the other recent ones.  But this is a great way of me still being able to watch my favorite show.  I dont remenber what happened in the 80's because i was 19 then, but some of it is coming back to me.  this has been my favorite show since i was in my teens and now i am 46 years old.  I was devistated when soapnet took it off in april.  And they did it without any warning.  thank you, so much for letting me have my show again.  Now i have 18 years of it to watch.

    Thank you so much

    Hi,

If for any reason you prefer to use the old version of the Web Suite, bookmark webmail1.webmail.aol.com until the upcoming Basic version becomes available.  You are not forced to use one or the other--the choice is yours.  If you like the new version, continue using it at mail.aol.com.
