The all-new Web Suite has been released!

Many of you have been asking when Cayman (the new version of the Web Suite that's been under beta test) will be officially released, and I'm happy to say that it's being released today!  The Web Suite as you've known it will be updated soon as it makes its way to your accounts.  That means that Cayman will become the default web mail you'll use.  If you've gotten it already, welcome to the all-new Web Suite.  This new version of web mail has completed it's beta test period with flying colors and raving user comments, and it's now in the process of replacing the old web mail as the new Web Suite.  There are lots of great features in it, but some of the main ones are:

All new look and feel
that provides more room to read your messages.
No more pop-up windows!
if you like, you can choose to read and compose messages in the same window (user option under Settings).
One list of
messages: No more paging through your inbox -- all your messages will appear in one, fast scrolling list.
New and improved panels: The People Panel includes hover controls and shortcuts to easily email, instant message or edit a contact. There are also new panels to keep a To Do's list, remember upcoming events, and more are on the way.
Improved contacts: Buddy icons and AIM-like hover controls appear when you roll your mouse over a contact's name. Start an IM or email to someone in just one click!
Faster performance
to get more done quicker.

The new Web Suite still includes existing features like integrated Calendar, Instant Messaging, Address Book, and easy access to AOL Pictures and Journals.

Now, don't worry if you're account hasn't gotten this free upgrade yet (you'll know if you've gotten the new version because it'll have the numbers 27379 in your browser's web address).  With so many millions of AOL and AIM users worldwide, it takes time to update everyone but rest assured, we're rolling it out now and everyone should have it within a couple of weeks.  When you get it on your account, let me know what you think by leaving me a comment here.

We're already busy working on the next version of the Web Suite, so let us know what you think of the new one and we'll do everything we can to incorporate your suggestions into the next version.  Leave me a comment below about what your favorite (or not) feature is.  Click the Add your own link below.

I think you'll really like the all-new Web Suite--enjoy!

NOTE: In the new Web Suite, the link back to this blog has been moved to the bottom-left corner of the screen.  Other methods are bookmarking this page and setting up an alert so that you get an email whenever I write some new info here.

PS: For technical issues, a lot of solutions are being offered at the Web Suite message board since it's much easier for everyone to find the topics that are of interest to them.  It's also easier for us to provide the answers there since each technical topic is separated and more visible.

For answers to technical questions, please post them at:
http://messageboards.aol.com/aol/en_us/articles.php?boardId=569193&func=3&channel=People

If you have a non-technical question (about features, how to do X, looks, etc), please leave them here for me.  Thanks.

'Til next time,
Tae

Is there any way to get rid of the constant ads and pop ups? especially the ones that move?  I hate using this new page.  If this is the way it's going to be, I'll go elsewhere. Sick of it.  Our whole household is.

The new mail system is the worst idea AOL has had in years.  It is awful, irritating, and slow.  Bring back the old version or allow the user to turn off all of the crud on the screen!

Tey:  When I type a web address in an email I get an added ";" which I did not include.  It then keeps my friends from being able to use the link as it says its not found.  How do I turn this off.  A friend with another e-mail service said to insert a space bar after typing the link which would turn it to a link or to check setting if that didn't work, but I can't find anything allowing this to work.  Please help.

Why have you removed the POST portion from the News.  I found it interesting and entertaining...Who complained the loudest to have it removed????
