AOL Mail's New Unified Inbox

AOL users now have the option to switch to the new Unified Inbox, stay put, or switch back.

Benefits of the improved Inbox option include:
1. E-mail messages remain in your Inbox and Sent folder until you delete them
2. Unlimited storage lets you keep as many e-mail messages as you want
3. See all of your e-mail messages in one place, instead of separate New Mail and Old Mail folders

If you are an AOL Webmail user, you will receive the following pop-up the next time you log in to AOL Webmail:

If you are using the AOL 9.1 software, use AOL Keywords to switch to the new Inbox:

Switch to Unified Inbox: AOL Keyword: Inbox

Switch back to New & Old folders:
AOL Keyword: mailbox switch

If you are using Webmail or IMAP/POP3, use the following links:

    Switch to Unified Inbox: http://inbox.aol.com/mail/changeMailboxStyle?style=self

Switch back to New & Old folders: http://inbox.aol.com/mail/changeMailboxStyle?style=auto

NOTE: You must be signed in to AOL with your screen name and password in order to access the links above.

More information on the Unified Inbox is available here:

    Janmatthews,

It is easy.  Just create a new folder.  You can label it what ever you like.  Where it says "my folders" with a little blue shaded "add", click add an create one. When you want to save one there, check the box and click action. Then you just click the name of the folder you wan it to go to.

Aol is now returning mail that I forward to more than one recipient.  They even make me take the image test when I send an Email to one recipient.  I also have to take the image test to send myself an Email to another account.  The other day I forwarded an Email to 8 recipents 6 of which were my own family and have the same last name and AOL shut down my Email completely.  I had to call them to straighten it out.  After 45 minytes of "the run around" my email was back on line. As soon I can copy all of my contacts and send out a change of Email to make sure everyone important gets it, I am going to drop AOL, once and for all.

I went through all the responses to the comments and couldn't find an answer regarding the question "why don't you have the "old" mail be the file that is kept forever, rather than moving everything into one big Unified Inbox?  There have been many times when I want to go through old emails - some which I might not have thought were important at the time, but later needed.  I have several computers that I use, and since "read" mail gets saved automatically to the computer, I would have to go to each computer, at work and home, to try to find the email in question.  God forbid I was traveling - I would never be able to find it!  So, for now, the answer is the Unified Mailbox, but it is cumbersome since you then need to choose to do something with the emails, rather than knowing that they go to "old" and are saved forever, to be found with a few choice keyword searches.  GMail does that!  Is there a way to tell the AOL mail server to save "read" mail to the AOL server rather than to the computer?  That would take care of the problem.....or just have old mail stay on the server forever.  Please respond directly to this, as I havent seen the answer anywhere!  Thanks

My PC crashed & I had to reinstall AOL 9.0 SE; but unlike previous times, my address book & favorites were not automatically re-loaded when I went online. So how can I get them back?
