The Only Place You Can Send a 5GB Attachment!
Many of you may have read the article in USA Today (found here: http://www.usatoday.com/tech/products/2008-04-15-google-gmail-webmail_N.htm) on AOL Mail’s feature that allows sending of large attachments via email. Here are some more details on how you too can use Xdrive to send up to 5GB of attachments.
How can you start using Xdrive to send large attachments?
First, Xdrive is only available in Beta for now, so access your AOL Mail account at http://beta.webmail.aol.com.
Start composing email as you normally would by clicking on “Compose.” After you click on “Attach file” browse and select your attachment. You will notice an updated dialog box:
If you would like to upload via Xdrive, simply select the check box towards the bottom of the dialog. For files over 16MB, your attachments will automatically get uploaded via Xdrive. If you don’t already have an Xdrive account, you will see a brief confirmation dialog. Be sure to click “I Agree” to create a new account. When you are done, click Send and your attachments will be sent along with your email.
When your recipients receive the email, they will see the attachment(s) as a link. All they need to do is click on the link to retrieve the attachment(s) via Xdrive.
What is Xdrive?
Xdrive (http://www.xdrive.com) is a 5GB personal hard drive on the Internet. You can get easy backup and secure storage, just like an external hard drive, but without the worry of losing or damaging a piece of hardware. You can simply upload files to Xdrive and securely access your files anywhere over the web. You can even share your files with your friends and family by allowing them permission. All this, for free.
Enjoy,
Rose

I would love to use XDrive but it absolutely will not let me register - ever. On the XDrive website or through the functionality on the beta webmail site. I've been trying for a month or two now (on the main site). Disappointing.

Help! This morning (Friday, May 2) all of my e-mail files (more than 530) of them disappeared. I do not believe I did anything inappropriate or mistakenly but have not been able to relocate any of the 530+ files that disappeared. I also noticed at the tiem that instead of listing my e-mail as geneyounggene@netscape.net (as it has been since I first secured an e-mail address), it is now showing my address as geneyounggene@aim.com leaving me to think you folks were doing something technically this morning that went terribly awry or wrong. Can you please advise as to what happened and how I might be able to retrieve my file sand get back to where I was this morrning when I first signed onto my e-mail account?

Yes, brag about this all you want, but....
>>WHY IN THE WORLD DOESN'T AOL HAVE THE SIMPLE, BASIC FEATURE OF ADDING LINKS TO EMAILS??<<
WTF! Am I not seeing something here? -
Rose;
I have an endless list of folders that I keep to categorize my incoming email, many of these folders could be stored as sub categories if I only had the option to create subfolders. I am afraid that by using Xdrive, even less control of my file system will turn into chaos. It would help a great deal for me and natually other users to have the option to create subfolders for better management and organization. By being able to email a whole subfolder to anyone of my receipients (i.e. Project File Updates) would also be an enhancement to Xdrive. When can we have this feature?
