Veteran's Day Reflections
Thanks to each of you that sent me a "Thank You" note on this Veteran's Day. I am proud of my military service and am thankful that others acknowledge it. It is very nice that the general attitude of our Country today is quite different than it was in the era of my military service. Now, people back our Armed Forces no matter what their political beliefs are. It was not that way during Viet Nam. It is hard for Viet Nam Vets to grasp that people are actually appreciative of their time in the military when for so long they were scorned. Thank You all for giving the Viet Nam Vet something to be proud of and thank you all for taking the time to say "Thank You" to any Vet for their time and service to their Country.
I've spent my day quietly thinking of the past and my time in the Service. On many days during each year I reflect on my years of Service but, I especially do this on Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and the anniversary of my Deployment to Viet Nam. There are many things that I would never talk to others about but, I will tell you that the years I "put in" were generally good. The bad times you put behind you and try to forget. That doesn't work. Knowing that the general public of my Country appreciate the efforts that I expended is a lot of comfort and knowing that you understand when I don't discuss it much is very calming to me.
With each new conflict comes a new set of Veterans who need our support. It's nice to know that it will be there.

Dear Bill ,I cant begin to imagine what your private thoughts are all about ,when you reflect on some of the bad times you remember ,from the time you served in Vietnam, not un similar to those of our boys serving to day in Irag and Afganistan ,and yet different ,as I say I cant begin to imagine ! you read my entry yesterday, about what happened in my family ,just months before I was born ,but I knew the story ,my Grannie and my Dad took that pain to their graves ,just as so many of you live with which ever war you were in, for ever , Thankyou and God Bless you ..love Jan xx

{{{ Bill }}}} My uncle who served in the supply lines all over the jungle for the army in Vietnam, doesn't speak of that part of his service much either. But he knows we are all proud and appreciate it... as I know my family is of you, too.
I am happy to honor all who serve our country... Always. My kids always walk up to any person in uniform they see and thank them.
be well,
Dawn
