POEM
Hi Everyone,
I've been very slow to add an entry, but I keep in touch with you all through Dad.
Below is a little poem that Princess and I put together last night.
I Wonder Where They Are Tonight When it’s cold and dark and deep, I wonder where the squirrels sleep. Are they safe and warm and sound, When night shades have fallen down? I wonder if the birds are warm, If perchance ‘twould come a storm, I hope that they can safely rest, In their little leafy nest.
I look out on the cold, dark night ‘Tis such a dark and lonely sight, But God His loving hand doth send, And then He safely tucks them in.
Bye for now. Sending love to all our Journal friends!
Mary (DAD'S daughter

Some Thoughts
Here are a couple of thoughts that have helped me a lot recently.
" It is better to suffer wrong than to do it, and happier to sometimes be cheated than not to trust."
"Forgive now those who made you cry. You might not get a second time."
And below is a poem that is very special to me. It just touches something in the depths of my heart.
I Saw God Wash the World
I saw God wash the world last night, With His sweet showers on high, And then, when morning came, I saw Him hang it out to dry.
He washed each tiny blade of grass, And every trembling tree; He flung His showers against the hill, And swept the billowing sea.
The white rose is a cleaner white, The red rose is more red, Since God washed every fragrant face, And put them all to bed.
There's not a bird, there's not a bee, That wings along the way, But is a cleaner bird and bee, than it was yesterday.
I saw God wash the world last night, Ah, would He had washed me, As clean of all my dust and dirt, As that old white birch tree."

Guess Who Will be 93 , Sept. 2, 2006 ?

The above picture is of the Birthday Boy.
Dad will be 93 on September 2.
We had his Birthday Dinner on August 26, because that was the best day for Jim and Beverly, and Kevin and family to come.
We were at a restaurant, and the waitress brought Dad the dessert with the candle on top that you see in the picture above.
Here is a picture of all of us at the table.

Then we came back home and had the birthday cake and ice cream. Beow is a picture of Kevin standing beside of Dad, lighting the candles!
nbsp; &
On Dad's actual birth date, we will have a celebration here at home! Princess is excited about it. She wants us to get some party hats! :-)
Lets try to keep the corners of our mouths turned up like DAD always reminds us.
So long for now!

It's Beautiful in East Tennessee Today

Above is a picture we took at Newfound Gap in the Smokies. (If you follow Hwy 441 South it takes you into Cherokee, NC). From NewFound Gap you can see miles and miles away. The picture shows a small field of flowers we saw near where we parked.
Today I thought I would tell you one of my favorite jokes. It is a short one that I read in Reader's Digest not ago:
Two Snowmen were standing out in the field side-by-side. One said to the other, "Do you smell carrots?
See you later!

My Great-Niece
Above is a photo of my Great-Niece. That's her brother in the previous entry. They were at a Train Museum in PA when these photos were taken.

Here is one of my favorite poems. I don't know who wrote it.
"My Bible, my Bible, my truest friend,
Thy constancy I've tried.
If all were false, I'd find thee true,
My counselor and my guide."

A Picture from the Tomato Festival

The picture above is one we took at the Grainger County Tomato Festival. They had lots of beautiful vegetables on display, including these Green Bell Peppers.

Back after My Disappearance
Hi Folks,
Just a couple of photos today. The one below is of some of Dad's tomatoes that we picked just a few minutes ago. He is holding one of them.

The next picture, below is of my great-nephew at his seat on a train they were riding near Hershey, PA. Notice his Thomas Train tee-shirt. Trains are his favorite subject, and he knows a lot about them already. He is 5 yrs. old.

My Dad
"My Dad"
The Evergreens
Some trees lose their leaves in Fall,
When Winter winds blow cold
Yet some trees never lose a leaf,
They stand there wise and old.
They are the trees you see so clear,
Upon the snowy scene,
They are God's special kind of tree,
They are the Evergreens.

Hi Everybody,A Few More Jokes
Hi Everybody, Here are some jokes that gave me a good laugh. Hope they will give you a laugh too. As an old man was driving down the freeway, his car phone rang. Answering, he heard his wife's voice urgently warning him, "Fred, I just heard on the news that there's a car going the wrong way on Interstate 94. Please be careful!" "It's not just one car," said Fred, "It's hundreds of them!!" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A guy hears a knock at his door. When he answers it, there’s nobody there, but there’s a snail on the welcome mat. Frustrated, the guy picks up the snail and hurls it into the street. Five years go by, and there’s another knock at the door. The man answers it, and again there’s no one standing there, but there’s a snail on the welcome mat. The snail looks up and says, “What was that all about?” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Two elderly women were out driving in a large car, both women barely large enough to see over the dashboard. As they cruised along, they came to an intersection. The stoplight was red, but they just went right on through. The woman in the passenger seat thought to herself, "I must be losing it, I could have sworn we just went through a red light." After a few more minutes, they came to another intersection, the light was red, and again they went right through. This time, the passenger was almost sure that the light had been red, but was also concerned that she might be seeing things. She was getting nervous, and decided to pay very close attention. At the next intersection, sure enough, the light was definitely red, and they went right through it. She turned to the other woman and said, "Mildred! Did you know we just ran through three red lights in a row? You could have killed us!" Mildred turned to her and said, "Oh my goodness! Am I driving?
