Feeling Happy

ENTRY  #  FOURTEEN  HUNDRED.

Time is so precious-do not waste it.

Good Morning.

I was a tired old  man yesterday afternoon, but very happy. As you can see in the picture above we did get those tomatoes in the ground. There are 30 plants in this little plot, but we will have a few more later. We have chosen one plant to show you all through the season, letting you see it grow.

Picture by Mary. Taken 4-21-08 about 5 minuets aftre being put in the ground. Watch it's growth on  DAD'S TOMATO GARDEN  PICTURE ALBUM  . during the comming weeks.  DAD.

We have lots of pictures of the activity yesterday and we wii be showing you more of them later in the week.

Tomatoes How to choose, use, and cook with this favorite summer fruit

Tomato Varieties Tomato

Oh how America loves the tomato. The aroma of the vine, sweetness of the flesh, and juicy acidity spur between 25 and 40 million of us to grow tomatoes in gardens, containers, and window boxes each year. There are few greater pleasures than a just-picked ripe, red tomato still warm from the summer sun, or a basket of juicy heirloom tomatoes from your farmers' market.

More than any other fruit or vegetable, the tomato has changed the face of modern cuisine. Whether you toss chopped tomatoes into a beef stew, slide a few slices into a BLT, or layer them with their soul mate, basil, tomatoes have become ubiquitous. But even the reddest, plumpest specimens can disappoint when it comes to flavor and juiciness. Finding the best choice, knowing its flavor secrets, and understanding the best way to preserve that flavor will deepen your enthusiasm for one of summer's great tastes.

    Hi Dad,
Wanted to stop by and say hello.
    The plants look awesome!
I think it will be neat to watch the progress of the plant you selected.
I think you should name it!
I've been trying to smile but it hasn't been easy.
    Just so busy, so tired.
    Hi to Mary and Princess.
    Love,
    Donna

your tomato garden is beautiful again this year. I look forward to watching them grow. Its still too early to plant here yet for a few weeks but my husband just finished raking the front lawn with his tractor and now its raining before he could fertilize it but that will wait. Its starting to look good again.

    Dear Dad,
That's so great that you folks got  your tomatoes all ready to go!   We have to look into fencing in an area in our new yard so that the deer (and other critters) don't eat all our plants!
Rest up and enjoy your day.
    Love,
    Nancy
