Things I know

fair|Tilly and the Wall:Wild Like Children

This list is by no means (obviously) comprehensive and is not ordered in any rank.

1. Our reality is made of what our senses perceive and our resulting reaction (be it thought or action)

2.  There is no absolute truth.  To site Sophie's World, just because you've never seen a white crow doesn't mean they don't exist.  (Refer to no. 1)

3.  Everything exists in a state between is and is not.  A flower exists (or perceived, refer to no.1) but doesn't really exist.  It's dirt and sun and air and elements and molecules and atoms.  When the flower is gone it still remains static in it's place in the time it occupied.

4. Emotions and thoughts are tangible.

5. No one can prove their own sanity (refer to no. 1)

6.  Everything perceived contradicts itself (refer to no. 2)

7.  Genetics carry memories or mental imprints

8.  You will become your parents

9.  I may be insane, but there's a soul in me that is good, whole, powerful, unique and absolutely beautiful.

9.b. I will never stop trying to push past all my barriers in order to share that beautiful soul with the world, no matter how many mistakes I make along the way.

10.  Things may co-exist/not exist (which is, as I've been told, apparently the chaos theory), but behind it all is an intent, a purpose, a force that eventually resolves all things back to an equillibrium.  It resides in every bit of matter, every thought, every action and every stroke of luck/coincidence/act of fate.  Call it what you will, but I call it God.  We have free will, but things will always happen as they should... again with the contradictions.

10.b. Every decision I've made and every outside influence has led me to where I am and every decision I make and every outside influence will always lead me to where I belong.

One more for good luck:  No matter what you believe in, faith (trust) is everything.

But the main thing I know quite well is that I don't "know" anything... and never will.

When you're searching for an answer with all your heart it's a relief sometimes to know that there is no answer.

    2.  The first half of this claim is much stronger than the second.  (Existence of white crows is a problem for set theory).  Absolute truth is quite another concept.

If language and reasoning is to be a worthwhile activity at all, I claim, some absolute truth must exist, otherwise we can't "rightly" believe that there's a point to anything.  (I've turned it back into set theory now.)

Whether there is "a point to anything" or not is obviously an axiom you're dealing with elsewhere.

Explore quantum theory for more ammunition to feel justified in belief of claims very similar to this.

    4.  Tangible is not the right word.  I know what you mean, but the claim as it reads is false.  I am not saying that to make you feel bad.  Tangible means you can touch it, and one can't touch emotions, clearly.  I would go with "Emotions and thoughts are material, even though they have no mass." or something like that.

    6.  Shaky ground here with #2 in questionable shape, but look to the Incompleteness Theorem for where you're probably going with this.

    7.  Richard Dawkins, The Selfish Gene

    8.  Hopefully not yet.

    9.  Agree wholly.

    10.  The universal force pushing towards equilibrium is actually entropy, and it's quite a bit more malevolent than God, if you are wont to ascribe such judgements to "him".

"always happen as they should"... Tough to make this one stand up under quantum theory (you have to pay a heavy price for #2), but bolsters the first idea fragment for both this and #3.

Faith and trust are everything-- I agree.  Everything that counts anyway.

Look for an e-mail from me later.
