Feeling Frustrated
Hearing Saturday morning noises

I'M BACK!! and with PEACOCKS!!

Hope everyone has had a great week!  Mine is really getting better!  It's just been a very busy one!  Have a short week next week my children are having their spring break so I'm taking a few days off with them!lol(I know it's going to be interesting they have already started with a list of what they want to do!). I was so frustrated yesterday I could not get the journals to pull up for some reason and I just shut the computer off!  (Maybe it was a patient lesson for me!!...if it was I failed) Still had problems this morning but I eventually got them to start pulling up! I'll try to get around to everyone's journals today!

I mentioned Wednesday the Roselawn Plantation that is near my parents home! I was really a beautiful place in it's day!  It was owned by one of Dothan's first attorneys and his wife! They had a Very large main house and all kinds of small sheds and smaller buildings on the property! Some of them simply disappeared over time and the bushes that lined the property eventually grew over others and hid some of them from view! When they died it was kinda like hide and seek to see what treasures that was hid in the old buildings!

One of my friends when I was in high school, parents was caretakers for the property! The owners lived in there summer home in the North Georgia mountains during the summer and only lived here during the winter and fall! I went with them one time to Helen, Georgia and help them open up the house one spring it was my first time to the Mountains that I now love to visit! (Especially the Smokey Mountains which are my favorite!)

They one thing that stood out about this house was  the Peacocks that roamed the property!  They were a lot of them that roamed freely around the house and barns!  I can remember as a kid seeing those beautiful birds just walking around the front lawn with there tail feathers displayed they were really beautiful!

They roosted at night in the huge shrubs that lined the outside of the property! When I was a teenager and was able to drive on my own! One of the things my friends and I liked to do to pull jokes on people who visited us was drive along side of the shrubs that lined the side of the road and pretend we ran out of gas or  like the car broke down and in the darkness we would hit the car horn and those birds would start screaming at the top of their lungs and if you have ever heard a peacock screech it's loud and scary especially at night!

They sound somewhat like a woman screaming and we would tell our poor victims that a woman had been murdered beside the road and that sometimes you could still hear her screaming!!lol   We could really make it sound good!! Scare the Jeebers out of our poor victims !!

We always had a good laugh about it!  It's was just harmless teenage fun!(yeah right!)  You know now I think I now know where our teenagers learn to play their practical jokes from!!lol...... You Reap what you Sow!!

God Bless

Randy

LOL, what a story Randy!!! I can just see you and your friends doing that to scare those folks!! that plantation sounds like a nice home too! I bet it was fun to be able to be around there and explore it while your friend's parents were the caretakers

I hope you have a good spring break with your kids!!! Its funny, spring breaks are all different weeks across the country; our schools had their's this past week, its always neat to have some time just to relax and have fun

There is a woman hollering creek here in Texas. Peacocks roamed the grounds of Mission San Jose in San Antonio at one time. We could hear them from our house. Sounds as if you teens had a lot of fun. Paula
