V'IMOTEINU: And Our Mothers

"V'IMOTEINU:And Our Mothers..." is a series of ten one-of-a-kind artworks based on the Jewish matriarchs. They represent Rabinowitz's ongoing fascination w/the voices, power & wisdom of the ancient women of the Torah. They seek to echo a legacy that has often been hidden,   Although deeply rooted in the Jewish tradition,  these weavings/ assembalges reflect all women's stories & their lessons are for all humanity.  SARAH, No. 1 (Elder, Old Age, Fire); HAGAR, No. 5, (The Egyptian,Our Arab Mother);  REBEKAH, No. 2 (Youth/Water); No. 3, LEAH (Spirit/Air);  RACHEL, No. 4 (Earth/Middle Age).  Ind. texts  accompany each piece. V'IMOTEINU has been exhibited thoughout the United States.  by W. Rabinowitz, 1992-2004
