All About Me

Artist, Feminist & Peace Activist, Wendy A. Rabinowitz's artworks are in synagogue, gallery, organization & home collections,incl. Brandeis U.; U. of Albany Art Museum; & The Sephardic Foundation, Haifa, Israel. Influenced by the handiwork of her Grandma/Bubbe Sadie/Sarah, she is a 'baal teshuvah' who has returned to Judaism through 'hiddur mitzvah', the making of beauty in the world to reflect G-d's oneness with  & within us. Her one-of-a-kind ritual artwork draws on themes from Psalms, Torah, & ancient Jewish teachings. She works out of her studio, LIVING THREADS Judaica, in the Berkshire Hills of MA.;  is a member of Am. Guild of Judaic Artists; incl. in archives of National Mus. of Women in the Arts; & in Who's Who of American Women, 2000-05.  Commissions are acdcepted.

"SARAH, (Fire), No. 1 from V'IMOTEINU: And Our Mothers...  One-of-a-kind series of artworks based on the Jewish matriarchs. They represent Rabinowitz's ongoing fascination with the voices. power & wisdom of the ancient women of the Torah. These mixed-media weaving/assemblages seek to echo a legacy that has often been hidden, ridiculed, or not heard at all. Although deeply rooted in the Jewish tradition, these works seek to reflect all women's stories and their lessons are for all humanity. This exhibit of ten artworks has accompanying interactive text & has been exhibited throughout the United States. 42" X 28" X 4"
