Let's get up close & personal...
With this black snake who is enjoying our yard on this bright, warm sunny day.
We have lots of black snakes around, they are good for mice control so we leave them alone. Although I am not real happy he chose to hang out in our yard ~ Coco stood on him!!! She is lucky she didn't get bit.
We were out in the RZR and I saw him crossing the road towards our yard. I went around him since I won't kill anything, even snakes. Doug was daring enough to take the pictures...I wouldn't get that close. I think he did a good job with the pics.

I was always fascinated with all the snakes that inhabited our Salt Gulch ranch even though I greatly feared the rattlesnake which was generally more shy but occasionally did venture close. When I could see the snake was a harmless one, I just loved them, I guess out of relief! Gerry

My dad's farm is full of them...and they used to scare the sh*t out of me when I was bucking bails during the summer.

I have a history with snakes and it's beyond me to understand why, enough so that I actually have a snake as one of my totems...The irony is , I used to be scared to death of them. For whatever reason - I've gotten past the fear to the point of being able to handle them. (Hugs) Indigo

Ewwwwwwwww!! I am terrified of snakes and bugs.....BIG time! Althouth I find certain bugs facinating: Wind Scorpionss (toally harmless---very UGLY). Black Widows (as long as they are outside). I will take some pictures across the street of some widows that will blow your mind: HUGE! And of course Cicadias. The species we have here in Vegas and I can't remember there name (I have it on YouTube) only come out every 1 to 2 year.l Back east they live underground for 17 years!!! Can you believe that??? They are truly a natural phenomenon. Then we have our lovely, creepy and dangerous Scorpions. I have been bitten twice. It hurts!!!!!
But snake---oh NOOOOO. I don't think I could take it LOL. My in-laws live in Missouri and they have told me stories about snakes, especially the black snake. Man they get BIG! Your hubby is brave for taking that picture. I would run so fast away from that thing all you would see is my dust LOL.
Huggers,
Gayla
