Feeling Chillin'
money talks
I've been saying to my family over the years that i believe life is like a bank account. You can withdraw over the years what you deposit.
Esse Mae Washington-Williams and her daddy Strom prove that theory well. Here in America...money is a god and he is worshipped and admired and talked about all the time and understood very little.
It's clear Strom took responsibility for Esse when she became of age. He allowed her to live in and feel the bite of poverty. Then when she became a young woman he began to show up and give her and her mother and family money. he took care of her needs until she got married. When her husband died he then agin began to give her finacial help. He banked with Esse...he deposited time and money and he withdrew loyalty love.
It is so very simple...the universal laws of life...we are depositing into or debiting out of each others accounts during our relationships. The monetary and the life accounts dealing in raw numbers...credits and debits ...so at the end even though daddy paid, and deposited some money ...he hadn't deposited enough to keep his dark secret hidden forever. He couldn't keep the secret from his ancestors and his career that they ( the Lott's of america) wish to uphold as the ultimate example of american governmental favoritism and fatherhood.
Esse Mae was satisfied to be seen and paid by her daddy on his whim. She accepted her dad for what he was and she understood her livlyhood was dependant on her silence.
She said she didn't wish to ruin his career or his means to make a living as a racist because he provided for her in the manner in which she became so comfortable wiith living. Flying to Washington, everyone in his office knowing her identity. All of the paid, exchanging the paper money...making debits and credits...till he died.
Had he deposited enough in the bank account of life for her to forget her children and her lineage forever? Totally? i think not. As we all see in the end...Esse Mae is concerned with her bank account with her children and her heirs...and life goes on...
