We've come a long way baby....
Wow, 5 years of J-land!! I stumbled upon you almost five years ago by accident. I was looking for book reviews and came across another journal about books but couldn't really find anything I wanted so I decided to make my own.
Check out my first journal which began in December of 2003 called:
Library Maniac's Book Reviews. I love to read!!
That was before I knew any of you.
Then I joined an AOL group of journalers and soon, I was hooked.
I've made friends, met some of you in person, laughed with you, cried with you, lost some of you, and prayed for all of you.
You've watched my children grow as I have yours, you've given me hope on days when I had none, you lent me an ear when no one else would, and you've understood my hopes and dreams without judgement. For that I thank you.
I've told you all things that I wouldn't tell my own family, shared things with you that were deeply personal and emotional, opened up my soul for all to see and you looked and understood. Thank you.
And more importantly, the main reason for journaling, I've documented almost five years in the life of my family. I can come to my journal and tell you the exact dates of event and happenings in my life. It's like an autobiography. That is priceless.
I have a few other journals public and private but none are as important to me as this one. I have many readers here, some are family, some are friends, some are acquiantances, some are strangers and I want you to know that appreciate you all. Thank you for your friendship.
Here's to the next five years and more!!

Diaperhead. : )~

She got the whole shebang!!
This is one of the henna's my daughter did at work. She works at the local theme park doing hennas, face painting and hair wraps.
I'm very proud to report that my baby girl (Kara) got a full free ride to college. She got the whole shebang!! It took a lot of hard work and dedication but she is going for it. Her father and I will be behind her all the way. She's majoring in art of course. One of our customers is a professor at the University of South Florida and he and his wife are going to mentor her which is wonderful!
I wish I had gone to school when I was younger. I was a gifted student and could have done so much more. I easily made straight A's in high school and think I could have done well in college. I mean I love being a wife and mother and helping out with the family business and all and maybe if I had a career that my children wouldn't have done so well. So I don't have any regrets there but just the "what if" ya know?
Do you have any Regrets??

Gosh it's been so long
I just haven't been journaling lately. Don't know what's up with that. Just haven't felt like it. I have been reading your alerts though and commenting once in a while.
The summertime is so busy here. We've been hanging out together, having fun. Kara has been registering for school in the fall. That's not an easy thing registering for college.
I've been sewing and quilting lately. Seems to be my "thing" this summer.

A baby quilt I made for a friend.
and here's some totes and bags I've made: (I'll be selling some of these soon.)

I love this patchwork quilted bag because I used the finest quality material from the quilt shop to make it. I didn't even want to use the material because it is so soft and fine. But the purse came out great!! I love it. I had a lady order one of these for her laptop so I'll have to change it up a bit to fit a laptop. It will have a flap over the top and a long strap instead of handles. It is very thick and soft so it will protect a laptop nicely.
Well, hope you enjoyed a little look at what I've been up to this summer.
Oh, and we went to Ocala last weekend and visited Silver River State Park. Beautiful place!! Near Silver Springs where they filmed all the old Tarzan movies. The monkies are still in the woods there!! No kidding!

I got my computer fixed!!!!
I AM SO HAPPY!! LOL This computer has been broken for about a year and all that was wrong was a worn out cable. That's why it wouldn't boot up. Can you believe it?? It only cost me $50 to diagnose and fix it. I should have taken it in a long time ago. The guy said he was just about to reformat it when he saw that cable was messed up. I would have lost all my good stuff. PSP and pictures,music...etc.
I gave the other one I was using to my daughter so she will leave mine alone. I do not share well with others. :]-
Forgot to tell you all that the scholarship that my daughter received, the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship, is paid for by the Florida Lottery. Every child in Fl with decent grades is eligible.
We might get our stimulus payment this week. haha....what a big freakin joke. Did you know that the Bush Administration borrowed the money from China for the Wonderful and Fabulous Stimulus package?? So yeah, now we're all contributing to the National Debt. cha ching!! cha ching!! I don't even want it but I do need it just like everyone else. The saddest fact is that people are using that money to pay bills and they're not spending it in the stores which was the intention. I guess George Bush doesn't realize that when the economy gets bad that people get behind on their bills. duh. And now look who we have as prospective presidents.
<-----shakes head. Wouldn't it be funny if everyone in America wrote in someone else. lol Like George Carlin. lmao.
Okie dokie artichokie, now that you are politically correct, I will leave you with this little compset that I made. Snaggables.

Father's Day 2008
I sure did miss my dad yesterday. I wanted to go out to the cemetery but I never made it. I think Ryan and I will go this weekend and clean it up a bit. Last time we went it was pretty rough looking. The groundskeepers mow but that's about it. We went on Memorial Day and brushed off some of the graves and read them. It is a very old grave yard where my family is buried. My grandmother is buried there and grandfather who was in the military and was stationed in Germany. He died in the 60's before I was born. My uncle is there and one of my aunts and although my dad was cremated, we always pay tribute to him there because that is where we held services for him. My dad was in the Navy. Then I usually go to my brothers grave site which is only a few blocks away. Lots of people go out there because we always find flowers and mementos and photos and stuff laying around. Lots of people loved my brother.
Kara's car is getting the body work done. It's a 1981 Camaro and she is getting it painted Charcoal gray with metallic flake. She chose those colors. She will also need new rims and tires and I think her dad and I are going to get the new interior put in for her. It'll be like a brand new car when it's all said and done and it runs really nice except for being loud but I think Ryan is going to take the glass packs out and put in a muffler to help curb the noise. I will worry about that child every day when she drives that car. lol Only because I drove the same thing at her age. Mrs. Andretti.
sigh.
Did I happen to mention that I hate my job. I have been off for 5 days but I go back tonight. Every week night from 5-10. The only reason I hate it though is because they don't pay me enough money and I have to be away from my family. But I have to work nights because I help run our business during the day. Our business has suffered much in the last year and it will probably take us another year to get everything back on track even though it is doing much better now. That is one of the reasons why I have to have a part time job. I really need to find something in an office though because I just wasn't cut out for the retail business. What kind of office is open in the evenings? I can't think of anything. I still keep applying at publix though because I know that is a great place to work and they have great benefits even for part time employees. Maybe something will come up soon. I also applied at Walmart and Walgreens just to see if I could get more money there. Doubt it but it's worth a try. I'm still babysitting and I'm also thinking about selling Avon and consigning our old clothes. Every little bit helps right? I'm only contributing about half of what I should be contributing to the household income.
Ramble ramble...
I don't update this journal as much as I should because it really helps to get my thoughts and feelings out. Makes me feel a little less stressed. And I've been trying to read some journals but it just seems like every minute, every second of my time is filled up with something. Like now I have to go clean the kitchen from breakfast and lunch and do some more laundry, then fix dinner for the family later because I have to work tonight. Kara and Ryan are both working today too. Talk to you all soon!!

Graduation 2008
My baby girl graduated high school with a weighted GPA of 3.4. She was approved for the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship which pays for 75% of college. She begins community college in the fall and then will follow up with art school in Savannah in 2 years. They have to grow up don't they? Am I proud? pshhhhhhh....
We had a huge blow out party for her here at the house and she raked in the dough. She got like $800 from friends and family which she is using for her car and insurance. She has a job painting faces and doing Henna tattoos at the local theme park.
Then the actual graduation was on Monday at the University.

Kara and Cindi...Cindi's a proud sister. She is also going for the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship. Here's how it works:
Every child in Florida who graduates with a GPA of 3.0 or above qualifies for the Medallion scholarship which pays for 75% of college. And every child who graduates with a GPA of 3.5 or above qualifies for Gold scholarship ...100% of paid college. Do you have something similar where you live?
School's out for the summer......
