JonBenet Ramsey Case
Your Ideas : I think you should write about the JonBenet Ramsey case. There are so many facts, yet still so many questions. A complicated case, that millions of people are interested in, even after 10 years. The following are my member board posts regarding this case:
8/21/06 I heard on FoxNews today, that John Karr went by the name of Daxas when he was on the internet. I did a seach of "Daxas" (presumed spelling) and came up with the fact that Daxas is a drug used for COPD and also used for patients with HIV (Aid virus). So, for those of you who have said you were of the opinion that John Karr may possibly have Aids, you might be correct. Would be interesting to know, if Mr. Karr does have HIV, and/or if he has ever taken Daxas. See below:

Also, I heard a report on FoxNews this morning, that a woman named "Ms. Hudgins," who lived in the same neighborhood as John Karr in Petaluma, CA, has said that John Karr told her that he killed JonBenet. Mr. Karr claimed that he was at a Christmas party of the Ramseys and that his brother worked with or for Mr. Ramsey. John Karr told Ms. Hudgins that he noticed a way to enter the house, came back, wrote the note, hid under a bed, heard Patsy read a bedtime story to JonBenet, and later committed the crime.
My question is, did Ms. Hudgins report this to the police at the time. How could she not?
And, if she did report it, why had Mr. Karr not already been arrested in this case? Note: I saw Ms. Wendy Hutchens - correct spelling- on the news this evening, and she said she did contact the police, numerous times. Unbelievable that Mr. Karr has not already been investigated and arrested or cleared in this case.
I wrote Greta- at FoxNews, and asked her to look into this further. This case just has too many loose ends. See my previous posts below:
<<< Zdro wrote: CNN reported yesterday that Karr had been in contact with Richard Allen Davis (the murderer of Polly Klass, who of course disappeared from the town where Karr's wife currently lives). Based on what family members said Karr was obsessed with both cases; it will still take a DNA match to convince me this guy did it though
>>> I agree. See my previous posts below:
8/16/06 I don't know about this case. I remember following it very closely when it happened, and was convinced that the parents were involved. We were presented with evidence that seemed to point to the Ramseys.
It is just odd that there were no footprints outside, other than those of the family. JonBenet had eaten grapefruit just prior to her death. The house was a very large maze, and someone had to be familiar with it. The "ransom" note was three pages long, and the amount asked for was the exact amount of Mr. Ramsey's Christmas bonus. There were practice pages in the trash can. There is a 911 call with Mrs. Ramsey calling the police, and you can hear the son in the background, yet the Ramseys say the son was asleep. The Ramseys refused to take lie detector tests until 2 years after their daughter's death. They refused to be interviewed separately by the police. They finally did so, but a long time after JonBenet's death.
All of the above statements would lead most people to believe it was the parents, or that they were somehow involved. There is still a lot to learn about this case. How does someone who would have known them when JonBenet was a one-year old, end up in Boulder, Colorado, where the Ramseys lived, 5 years later? There has to be some kind of connection. Otherwise, the only other conclusion could be that John M. Karr followed children's beauty pageants. But how did he get in the house. Did the Ramsey's have an alarm system in that expansive, expensive house?
I hope we find out all the details of this case. It is certainly lurid and complicated, and mostpeople can see why the police would figure that the parents were involved. I hope they were not, and feel badly if they have gone all this time, being innocent.
There are things, however, that could point to someone else, one being a footprint inside the basement that the police could not figure out who it belonged to, and there may be DNA that does not belong to the Ramseys. If this DNA leads to Mr. Karr, then he will be assumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law, but I still await anxiously for more details.
8/17/06 The above post of 8/16 was made late yesterday evening. Now, we have more information coming in about Mr. Karr. He was in a Thai jail for a sex crime, and I believe this is just a made-up story, so he can get out of jail there. I believe he was just obsessed with the JonBenet case. It is also reported that his ex-wife is saying he followed the JonBenet case and the Polly Klaas case very closely. Now, the reports also say that Mr. Karr was e-mailing back and forth with a journalist who has done several documentaries on the JonBenet Ramsey case.
Mr. Ramsey says he did not know Mr. Karr, however, Mr. Ramsey's attorney made a statement that was in the AOL article, saying that the Ramseys gave police information about Karr.
Mr. Karr's brother and ex wife say that Mr. Karr was in Alabama at the time of the killings. How would Mr. Karr have known such intimate information back in 1996, such as the bonus amount of John Ramsey that was mentioned in the ransom note?
I read a post a few minutes ago on this board, and a woman says that when she was in Thailand, some years ago, a tour guide was telling her and a friend that John Ramsey used to come to Thailand and be "entertained" by children. Strange, because there are reports coming out that say the underwear that JonBenet had on at the time of her death, was made in Thailand. I e-mailed this person and urged her, if what she said was true, to call the Boulder Colorado Police Department.
I think Mr. Karr has made a false confession. With that, I am not saying that the Ramseys had anything to do with this, but there is more to this case. It is very complicated, as I said above.
I hope, if the reports of DNA being found, and not being from the Ramsey family is true, and this DNA matches Mr. Karr- then Karr will possibly be found guilty, but this case continues to have many unanswered questions.
8/18/06 This morning more information is coming out that contradicts Mr. Karr. He is saying that he picked up JonBenet from school. Guess what folks, schools closed- Christmas holidays. He also says he used chloroform on JonBenet- yet no chloroform found in her system during autopsy. He says that it was accidental. Right, she has a wound on the back of her head almost one foot in length, whoever committed this crime used a garrote around her neck and slowly tightened it- those are not accidental wounds. He says he had sex with her, however coroner says there was no sex.
8/19/06 The only reports I have heard thus far, that would lead me toward thinking that Mr. Karr could have been the killer, is the report about the stuffed bear dressed as Santa, that was found in JonBenet's room. Reports say that the journalist that Mr. Karr was communicating with received a photo by e-mail, that showed Mr. Karr with what appeared to be the same stuffed animal. If that is the case, then there was be plenty of DNA on that stuffed animal, too. So, if DNA matches Mr. Karr, and they can show that he was in Colorado at the time, then, case closed. Otherwise, I think Mr. Karr has a mental problem, and is looking to get out of Thailand, and receive notoriety in this case that he has been so obsessed with over all these years.
Sorry, I just do not buy that John Mark Karr committed this crime. I may be wrong- but so far the facts just do not add up. I hope the police and the DA of Boulder have not
messed up again.
God Rest and Bless JonBenet,

8/19/06 I found the following article about the stuffed animal on CNN news web site after I wrote about it on my post:
Picture rekindles toy-bear mystery
Similarities exist between 1 in girl's room, Karr photo
By Kevin Vaughan, Charlie Brennan And Todd Hartman, Rocky Mountain News
August 19, 2006
A mysterious stuffed Christmas bear, once considered a potentially important clue in the
JonBenet Ramsey murder investigation, is again in the spotlight - thanks to a photograph e-mailed to a University of Colorado professor by the man now in custody in the killing. But instead of helping shed light in the case, the bear and the picture represent more unanswered questions in a killing that has vexed detectives and sparked controversy for nearly a decade.
In 1999, investigators released a photograph and asked for the public's help in identifying a small stuffed bear dressed in a Santa Claus suit. It was found in the Ramsey home, and the girl's parents didn't recognize it.
Investigators later learned the bear had been a prize in a beauty contest won by JonBenet a couple of weeks before she was killed.
That seemed to be the end of the issue.
Enter John Mark Karr, the 41-year-old man arrested in Bangkok, Thailand, this week as a suspect in JonBenet's unsolved murder.
Karr carried on a four-year e-mail correspondence with CU journalism professor Michael Tracey.
One of the e-mails Karr sent to Tracey contained a photograph of a young boy holding a white Santa Claus teddy bear purportedly taken on Christmas morning.
Tracey declined Friday to comment on the photo and wouldn't discuss the e-mail's author or whether he believes Karr is the child in the picture.
However, in one e-mail exchange with Karr, part of a small sample of the correspondence obtained this week by the Rocky Mountain News, Tracey apparently referred to the picture.
"I think you are tortured," Tracey wrote, "and that the dynamite trail leads back to that pretty little boy opening presents, with the Santa doll just visible over his shoulder."
Tracey acknowledged he shared details of the picture with students at the University of Colorado as part of his media- studies lectures.
"I've used the media coverage of the Ramsey case as a case study of how bad it can get," said Tracey, long critical of the treatment of the Ramsey family by the police, the media and the public as the investigation unfolded. "I show (students) a lot of the materials we use in the (three) documentaries" Tracey has produced on the JonBenet case.
Whether the picture, and the bear in it, has any significance wasn't clear Friday. But a former investigator knowledgeable about the case said the bear mystery was definitively solved years ago.
The bear had first become of interest to investigators during a June 1998 interview of Patsy Ramsey by Detective Tom Haney, on loan from the Denver District Attorney's Office. He showed Ramsey pictures from inside the house taken immediately after JonBenet's murder.
One picture showed the bear, perched on the twin bed alongside the bed in which JonBenet had been sleeping.
"He was asking her about different things in JonBenet's room, and she acted like she didn't know" where the bear had come from, said a former investigator, who spoke only on a guarantee of anonymity. "She was kind of asking, 'What's that? - like she never remembered.
"It was then a question of, well, did somebody lure JonBenet using this bear? Has anybody ever seen a bear like this?"
On Jan. 28, 1999, then-Boulder District Attorney Alex Hunter issued a public plea for information about the bear and its potential origins. His office Web site received about 28,000 hits by the time the riddle was solved.
The source said JonBenet won the bear in a Denver-area pageant and believed the date of the event was Dec. 14, just short of two weeks before her death.
"We confirmed it a couple of different ways," the source said. "It was a prize from that pageant. It's a non-issue."
The source said investigators' "proof-positive" about the source of the bear included a statement from the pageant organizer who saw the bear presented to JonBenet, as well as video footage from the pageant showing the bear on a table, among a group of prizes, before it had even been presented to JonBenet.
"It had nothing to do with the homicide," the source said.
And the bear seen in the photograph from the Ramsey home?
In February 1999, Boulder police investigators acknowledged that they had never seized it as evidence, and the Ramseys said that they didn't have it.
8/21/06 Dear Friend,
You are correct. She did report it to the police, over and over. I saw her on TV tonight. It is just unbelievable that he has not been investigated before now. (This is regarding Ms. Wendy Hutchens, who said that John Karr told her (while he lived in Petaluma, CA that he killed Jon Benet. That he had been to a Christmas party that the Ramseys had. Mr. Karr said that his brother worked with/for Mr. Ramsey. It was at the party John Karr met JonBenet, and saw a way to enter the house. He came back, entered the house, wrote the note, hid under a bed, heard Patsy Ramsey read a bedtime story to JonBenet, and later committed the crime).
Someone brought up the point tonight (on Nancy Grace) of how did he get the money to travel all over the world. One lady questioned it, and said she thinks someone must be "funding" him.
And when he was a teenager he had a red Delorean automobile. It was said that his father gave it to him out of guilt for not being there to help raise him, but John Karr's father's attorney was on the show, and he said John's father did not give him the car, and would not have been able to afford it.
A classmate of John Karr's is on Nancy Grace right now. She is the one who has the yearbook with his "Deep in the future, maybe I Shall Be The Conqueror and live in multiple peace." To me, that sounds like someone, who possibly realizes they have multiple personality disorder, and hope, one day to conquer it. This is where people are saying the S.B.T.C. came from at the end of the ransom note.
They were showing his handwriting, and comparing it to the ransom note. It was amazingly similar in many ways.
There have also been reports today that he had laser surgery while in Thailand to have hair on his face, neck and chest removed, and that this is the first step for people who are planning to have a sex change. They had the doctor on who showed the document where he had noted that John Karr eventually wanted to have a sex change. WOW, talk about a made for TV movie. I want to see it.
It just gets deeper and deeper, but remains interesting to me. I am still not convinced that Karr is the man. I want DNA proof, and proof that he was in Colorado at the time of the murder. His father's attorney says that he never missed a Christmas until 5 years ago, when he disappeared. ????????????????? What is the Truth ?????????????????
Have a nice evening.
